Removal of the Lamp(s) of the Tail Navigation Light

WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE STROBE LIGHTS FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES AFTER OPERATION. THE STROBE LIGHT WILL STILL BE HOT.

WARNING: WEAR GLASSES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE LIGHT. THE LAMP IS PRESSURIZED AND AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) In the cockpit, on panel 25VU:

Make sure that the STROBE switch is in the OFF position.
Make sure that the NAV & LOGO switch is in the OFF position.
Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is in the OFF position.
Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the navigation lights or the strobe lights.
Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the APU.

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the APU tail-cone-exhaust area.

4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Lamps of the Tail Navigation Light
(1) Hold the lens (7) and remove the screws (9).
(2) Remove the sealing-rings (8).
(3) If a sealing ring (8) is defective, discard it.
(4) Remove the lens (7) from the tail navigation light (1).
(5) Remove the sealing (4), the clips (6) and the white lenses (5).
(6) Remove the lamps (3) and the sealings (2).
(7) If a sealing (2) or (4) is defective, discard it.
