Deactivation of the Lens of the Rear Navigation and Strobe Light Assembly


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE CIRCUITS IN MAINTENANCE ARE ISOLATED BEFORE YOU SUPPLY ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT. UNWANTED ELECTRICAL POWER CAN BE DANGEROUS.

WARNING: WEAR GLASSES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE LIGHT. THE LAMP IS PRESSURIZED AND AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE STROBE LIGHTS FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES AFTER OPERATION. THE STROBE LIGHT WILL STILL BE HOT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (2) In the cockpit, on panel 25VU:
  • Make sure that the STROBE switch is in the OFF position.
  • Make sure that the NAV & LOGO switch is in the OFF position.
  • Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is in the OFF position.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the navigation lights or the strobe lights.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the APU.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE at the APU tail-cone-exhaust area.

4. Procedure

A. Deactivation of the Lens of the Rear Navigation and Strobe Light Assembly
   (1) Remove the lens (2) from the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (1):
     (a) Remove the screws (3) from the lens (2).
     (b) Remove the lens (2) from the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (1).
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the LED module from rear navigation and strobe light assembly. You must only remove the lens of the rear navigation and strobe light assembly.
   (2) Make an applicable entry in the logbook to indicate that you did the deactivation procedure.

A. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

B. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
