Servicing of the Ballast Units with Lampholders

WARNING: ISOLATE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS FROM THE RELATED EQUIPMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENT.

CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE LAMP GLASS WITH YOUR FINGERS. THE OILS FROM YOUR SKIN WILL QUICKLY CAUSE DETERIORATION OF THE LAMP. IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY TOUCH THE LAMP GLASS, CLEAN IT WITH A LINT-FREE CLOTH.

NOTE: The procedure is the same for all the ballast units with lampholder in the FWD and AFT cargo compartment.

B. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the FWD and/or AFT cargo-compartment door 825 826.
(2) Open the FWD and/or AFT cargo-compartment door and install the actuator safety-locks (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 33-34-11-020-053-A

A. Removal of the Fluorescent Lamp
(1) Release the quick-release fasteners (1) around the glass cover (2).
(2) Remove the glass cover (2) from the lamp housing (6).
(3) Push the buttons (4) at each end of the lampholder (5).
(4) Remove and discard the fluorescent lamp (3).

B. Installation of the Fluorescent Lamp
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Replace the fluorescent lamp (3).
(4) Install the glass cover (2) to the lamp housing (6).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

A. Do an operational test of the FWD and AFT cargo compartment lighting (Ref. AMM TASK 33-34-00-710-001).

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the actuator safety-locks and close the FWD and/or AFT cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
