Removal of the TPIS Kit (EV NLG)

3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
  • In the cockpit, on right center-instrument-panel 400VU, to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control-lever.
  • On the steering handwheel (CAPT and F/O) and on the rudder pedals, to tell persons not to operate them.
   (2) Install the safety devices on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-49-51-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Electrical Harness (with TPIS)
WARNING: FOR SAFETY STAND AFT OF THE GEAR LEG WHEN YOU OPERATE THE GROUND OPENING CONTROL OF THE DOOR. CAREFULLY READ THE PLACARD ON THE LEG DOOR BEFORE YOU OPEN THE NOSE GEAR DOORS.
   (1) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connectors while you disconnect them.
   (2) Remove upper harness 1M as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (32) from the connector (31).
     (b) Remove the screw (28), washer (29) and clamp (30) from the lower torque link.
     (c) Remove the screw (27), washer (26), clamp (25) and support (24) from the upper torque link.
     (d) Remove the screws (23), washers (22) and clamps (21) from the bracket (20).
     (e) Remove the screws (18), washers (17) and clamp (16) from the bracket (19).
     (f) Remove the screws (5), (8), (11), (12) and the washers (4), (7), (10), (13). Then, remove the clamps (3), (6), (9), (14) from the bracket (15).
     (g) Remove the upper electrical harness (2) from the transition box (1).
   (3) Disconnect the upper connection of the lower electrical harness (33) as follows:
     (a) Hold the lower electrical harness (33) and remove the nut (38), washer (37) and screw (36) from the clamp (35) and the support (34).
     (b) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the lower electrical harness (33).
     (c) Remove the clamp (35) from the lower electrical harness (33).
   (4) Disconnect the lower connections of the lower electrical harness (33) as follows:
     (a) Remove the NLG TPIS rotating-mechanism (Ref. AMM D/O 32-49-17-00).
     (b) Remove and discard the cotter pin (41).
     (c) Remove the nut (40), the washer (42) and the bolt (44).
     (d) Remove the bulkhead union (43) from the support (39) and from the NLG leg.
     (e) Carefully pull the electrical harness (33) to remove it from the wheel axle.
