Installation of the Brake Temperature Monitoring-Unit
WARNING:

WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:

A. Preparation for Installation
(1) If necessary, use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the interfaces of the brake temperature monitoring-unit (10).
(2) Remove the sealant from the electrical receptacle of the brake temperature monitoring-unit (10).
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
Subtask 32-47-18-420-050-F (1) If necessary, use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the interfaces of the brake temperature monitoring-unit (10).
(2) Remove the sealant from the electrical receptacle of the brake temperature monitoring-unit (10).
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
B. Installation of the Brake Temperature Monitoring Unit
(1) Put the brake temperature monitoring unit (10) in position on the bracket (2). Make sure that you can see the identification plates on the top of the brake temperature monitoring unit (10).
(2) Install the monitoring unit (10) with the bolts (1), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(3) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 28 and 24 lbf.in (0.32 and 0.27 m.daN )

(4) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) to the bolts (1) and the nuts (7).
Subtask 32-47-18-760-050-E (1) Put the brake temperature monitoring unit (10) in position on the bracket (2). Make sure that you can see the identification plates on the top of the brake temperature monitoring unit (10).
(2) Install the monitoring unit (10) with the bolts (1), the washers (6) and the nuts (7).
(3) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 28 and 24 lbf.in (0.32 and 0.27 m.daN )
. (4) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) to the bolts (1) and the nuts (7).
C. Electrical Bonding Resistance Test
(1) Use a MILLIOHMMETER ACCURACY 0.005 OHM to measure the bonding resistance between:
(a) The MLG forward pintle bearing and the brake temperature monitoring unit (10). The bonding resistance must be less than 20 milliohms.

(a) The MLG forward pintle bearing and the brake temperature monitoring unit (10). The bonding resistance must be less than 20 milliohms.
D. Electrical Connection of the Brake Temperature Monitoring Unit
(1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the receptacles of the brake temperature sensors (4) and the electrical connectors (5).
(2) Install the electrical connectors (5) on the brake temperature sensors (4).
(3) Move the rubber shields (3) into position over the electrical connectors (5) and the brake temperature sensor (4) connector receptacles.
(4) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the receptacle of the brake temperature monitoring unit (10) and the electrical connector (8).
(5) Put a 50 mm (1.9685 in.) +/- 3 mm (0.1181 in.) length of:
(7) Install the heat-shrinkable tubing (9) fully on the electrical connector (8) and the receptacle of the monitoring unit (10).
(8) Use a HOT AIR BLOWER MAX OPERATING 370 DEG C (700 DEG F) that can supply air at a minimum temperature of 135 deg.C (275.00 deg.F). Decrease the size of the heat-shrinkable tubing (9) fully along its full length.
(9) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) to the joint between the heat-shrinkable tubing (9) and the monitoring unit (10).
Subtask 32-47-18-865-052-A (1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the receptacles of the brake temperature sensors (4) and the electrical connectors (5).
(2) Install the electrical connectors (5) on the brake temperature sensors (4).
(3) Move the rubber shields (3) into position over the electrical connectors (5) and the brake temperature sensor (4) connector receptacles.
(4) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the receptacle of the brake temperature monitoring unit (10) and the electrical connector (8).
(5) Put a 50 mm (1.9685 in.) +/- 3 mm (0.1181 in.) length of:

or, in position on the electrical connector (8).32114301-060 TUBING - HEAT SHRINKABLE (NSA937502) 9
NOTE: It is recommended that heat-shrinkable tubing type ABS0836 is installed. Heat-shrinkable tubing type NSA937502 can be used as an alternative if ABS0836 is not available.
(6) Install the electrical connector (8) on the monitoring unit (10). (7) Install the heat-shrinkable tubing (9) fully on the electrical connector (8) and the receptacle of the monitoring unit (10).
(8) Use a HOT AIR BLOWER MAX OPERATING 370 DEG C (700 DEG F) that can supply air at a minimum temperature of 135 deg.C (275.00 deg.F). Decrease the size of the heat-shrinkable tubing (9) fully along its full length.

E. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
