Functional Preland Test of the Normal/Alternate Braking and Steering Systems on the Ground
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS AGREE WITH THE POSITION OF THE ITEMS THEY OPERATE BEFORE YOU PRESSURIZE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED ITEMS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING:
PRESSURIZE ONLY THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM(S) THAT IS (ARE) NECESSARY FOR THE TASK. ISOLATE THE OTHER HYDRAULIC SYSTEM(S) BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT.
WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE CIRCUITS IN MAINTENANCE ARE ISOLATED BEFORE YOU SUPPLY ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT. UNWANTED ELECTRICAL POWER CAN BE DANGEROUS.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE WHEEL CHOCKS ARE IN POSITION. MOVEMENT OF THE AIRCRAFT CAN BE DANGEROUS.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
1. Reason for the JobTo do the braking and steering functional test.
NOTE: You must not do this procedure if the Main Landing Gear (MLG) wheels and brakes are removed.
NOTE: It is necessary to have the Green hydraulic system available. If a hydraulic ground cart is not available, it is necessary to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system with the Yellow electric pump. Then, you must pressurize the Green hydraulic system with the Power Transfer Unit (PTU).

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position around the landing gear.
(2) If you do the test with the nose wheels on the ground, do the steps that follow:
(a) Put a PLATE 1.2 M (4 FT) - STEEL, SQUARED in front of the nose wheels.
(b) Apply a thick layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the top surface of the steel plate.
2 Move the aircraft and position the nose wheels on the steel plates (Ref. AMM TASK 09-10-00-584-002).
(3) To do the test with the nose wheels off the ground, do the step that follows:
(a) Lift the nose wheels (Ref. AMM TASK 07-12-00-582-001).
