A. Check of the Nitrogen Fill Pressure
   (1) Depressurize the brake system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-004).
   (2) Wait for a minimum of ten minutes before you read the brake accumulator pressure-gage (2585GM).
NOTE: This gives time for the temperature of the gas to become stable. The pressure can increase during this time.
NOTE: If you do this check immediately after the aircraft landing, let the pressure become stable for 30 minutes to get a more accurate value (temperature compensation of the brake accumulator (2582GM)).
   (3) Do a check of the charge pressure of the brake accumulator (2582GM) as follows:
     (a) Use a THERMOMETER -45 TO 70 DEG.C (-49 TO 158 DEG.F) to measure and record the temperature of the brake accumulator (2582GM).
1 When you measure the temperature, make sure that the THERMOMETER -45 TO 70 DEG.C (-49 TO 158 DEG.F) touches the gas interface/neck of the brake accumulator (2582GM).
   (4) Read the nitrogen pressure value of the brake accumulator (2582GM) on the brake accumulator pressure-gage (2585GM). Compare the nitrogen pressure value on the brake accumulator pressure-gage (2585GM) with the graph of the accumulator nitrogen fill-pressure.
     (a) If the value on the brake accumulator pressure-gage (2585GM) is correct (value "P" plus or minus 50 psi (3.45 bar)):
  • No other maintenance is necessary, go to Para. 4.B.
     (b) If the value on the brake accumulator pressure-gage (2585GM) is more than "P" plus 50 psi (3.45 bar):
     (c) If the value on the brake accumulator pressure-gage (2585GM) is between "P" minus 50 psi (3.45 bar) and "P" minus 218 psi (15 bar):
     (d) If the value on the brake accumulator pressure-gage (2585GM) is less than "P" minus 218 psi (15 bar):
1 Adjust the nitrogen pressure as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-14-32-614-002).
2 Pressurize and depressurize the brake accumulator (2582GM) as follows:
a Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system with the electric pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
b In the cockpit, do a check of the brake accumulator pressure on the triple pressure-indicator (60GG).
  • Let the pressure increase to between 2800 psi (193 bar) and 3200 psi (221 bar) and become stable.
c When the accumulator pressure is stable, stop the electric pump.
d On the brake manifold (3016GM), operate the manual depressurization button on the brake relief-valve (3067GM) to depressurize the brake accumulator (2582GM) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-004).
3 After 10 minutes, do the check of the value again on the brake accumulator pressure-gage (2585GM).
a If the accumulator pressure value is correct, "P" plus or minus 102 psi (7 bar):
  • No other maintenance is necessary, go to Para. 4.B.
b If the accumulator pressure value is more than "P" plus 102 psi (7 bar):
  • Decrease the accumulator pressure to the correct value "P".
c If the accumulator pressure value is less than "P" minus 102 psi (7 bar):
  • Do the next step.
4 Do a leak check with Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) on:
  • The charging valve (2586GM)
  • The brake accumulator pressure-gage (2585GM)
  • The adapter at the top end of the brake accumulator (2582GM).
a If you find leaks, do a check of the specified torque value on the applicable nut or connection. Then, adjust the nitrogen pressure as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-14-32-614-002).
b If you cannot stop the nitrogen leaks, replace the defective component(s) as necessary:
c If there are no external nitrogen leaks:
5 If you replaced the brake accumulator (2582GM):
  • Bleed the Yellow hydraulic system downstream of the engine pump to remove the nitrogen that can be in the hydraulic system (because of the brake accumulator (2582GM)) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-870-007).
