WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-43-16-941-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:

make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.

(4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position on the ground service connection to tell persons not to pressurize:

the Yellow hydraulic system.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is in position below the applicable false spar at the alternate brake manifold.
(2) Make sure that the Isolation Coupling of the PTU is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic systems have been depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(4) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoir has been depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(5) Make sure that the container is below the applicable alternate brake manifold.

A. Preparation for Installation

Alternate Brake Safety-Valve ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Remove the covers from the alternate brake manifold, the bobbin (10) and the filter (7).
(5) Use Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to lubricate:

B. Installation of the Alternate Brake Safety-Valve

Alternate Brake Safety-Valve ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Install the packings (3) and (6), the back-up ring (4) and the retainer (5) on the filter (7).
(2) Install the packings (8) and the back-up rings (9) on the bobbin (10).
(3) Install the filter (7) and the bobbin (10) in the alternate brake manifold.
(4) Carefully install the safety-valve (1) on the alternate brake manifold. Make sure that you do not cause damage to the:

packings (3), (6) and (8)
back-up rings (4) and (9)
retainer (5)
filter (7)
bobbin (10).

(5) Install the screws (2) and TORQUE to between 0.85 and 0.7 m.daN (75.22 and 61.95 lbf.in )

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Connect the Isolation Coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS AGREE WITH THE POSITION OF THE ITEMS THEY OPERATE BEFORE YOU PRESSURIZE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED ITEMS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(3) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system.
(4) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system.
(5) Pressurize the applicable hydraulic reservoirs (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).

E. Bleed the Braking System
(1) Bleed the Alternate Braking System (Ref. AMM TASK 32-43-00-870-002).

F. Test
(1) Do an operational check of the Alternate Braking system (Ref. AMM TASK 32-43-00-710-001).
(2) Make sure that there are no hydraulic leaks at the interface of the alternate brake manifold and the alternate brake safety-valve.

A. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
