Removal of the Alternate Brake Safety-Valve
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
(5) Operate the brake pedals until the brake accumulator of the yellow hydraulic system is at zero pressure.
Subtask 32-43-16-860-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
- make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
(5) Operate the brake pedals until the brake accumulator of the yellow hydraulic system is at zero pressure.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Disconnect the Isolation Coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
Subtask 32-43-16-865-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Disconnect the Isolation Coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

D. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable false rear spar at the alternate brake manifold.
4. Procedure(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable false rear spar at the alternate brake manifold.

A. Removal of the Alternate Brake Safety-Valve
(2) Remove the screws (2) and remove the alternate brake safety-valve (1).
(3) Remove the bobbin (10) and the filter (7) from the alternate brake manifold.
(4) Remove and discard the packings (8) and the back-up rings (9) from the bobbin (10).
(5) Remove and discard the packings (3) and (6), the retainer (5) and the back-up ring (4) from the filter (7).
(6) Keep the bobbin (10) and the filter (7) with the alternate brake manifold.
(7) Put a COVER - PROTECTION on the alternate brake manifold, the bobbin (10) and the filter (7) to prevent damage to the interfaces.
WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
- FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
- GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the applicable alternate brake safety-valve (1). (2) Remove the screws (2) and remove the alternate brake safety-valve (1).
(3) Remove the bobbin (10) and the filter (7) from the alternate brake manifold.
(4) Remove and discard the packings (8) and the back-up rings (9) from the bobbin (10).
(5) Remove and discard the packings (3) and (6), the retainer (5) and the back-up ring (4) from the filter (7).
(6) Keep the bobbin (10) and the filter (7) with the alternate brake manifold.
(7) Put a COVER - PROTECTION on the alternate brake manifold, the bobbin (10) and the filter (7) to prevent damage to the interfaces.
