LUBRICATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-33-14-860-051-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (4) Make sure that the NLG doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the vent valve, in zone 123.
   (6) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • on the panel 40VU in the cockpit,
  • on the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, access door 197CB.
   (7) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is are in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
   (8) Make sure that the safety devices are installed:
   (9) Make sure that the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is in position below the vent valve (2532GM).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-33-14-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Vent Valve (20)
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE NLG DOWNLOCK SAFETY PIN AND THE TWO DOOR SAFETY PINS ARE INSTALLED.
   (1) Clean the connecting components with ACETONE (Material No. 11-583) and dry them with dry filtered compressed-air.
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) on the fasteners.
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (3) Put the vent valve (20) in position and install the bolts (24).
   (4) Install the washers (19) and the nuts (18).
   (5) TORQUE the nuts (18) to between 0.4 and 0.3 m.daN (35.40 and 26.55 lbf.in ) T.
   (6) Safety the nuts (18) with the new
AIPC 32-33-01-06-010 COTTER PINS (17) or AIPC 32-33-81-06-010 COTTER PINS (17).
   (7) Install the lever (6) on the vent valve (20).
   (8) Install the bolt (10), the washer (25) and the nut (26). Tighten the nut (26) and safety it with the new
AIPC 32-33-01-06-050 COTTER PIN (27) or AIPC 32-33-81-06-070 COTTER PIN (27).
   (9) Install the reducer (12) with the new
AIPC 32-33-01-06-130 PACKING (11) or AIPC 32-33-81-06-130 PACKING (11).
   (10) TORQUE the reducer (12) to between 1.75 and 1.63 m.daN (12.91 and 12.02 lbf.ft )
T.
   (11) Install the reducers (15) and (22) with the new
AIPC 32-33-01-06-150 PACKING (16) or AIPC 32-33-81-06-150 PACKING (16) and the new AIPC 32-33-01-06-150 PACKING (21) or AIPC 32-33-81-06-150 PACKING (21).
   (12) TORQUE the reducers (15) and (22) to between 3.58 and 3.47 m.daN (26.40 and 25.59 lbf.ft )
T.
   (13) Remove the blanking plugs and connect the hydraulic lines (13), (14) and (23).
   (14) TORQUE the hydraulic line (13) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
   (15) TORQUE the hydraulic lines (14) and (23) to between 3.2 and 2.9 m.daN (23.60 and 21.39 lbf.ft )

B. Adjustment of the Mechanical Linkage
   (1) Install the
98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN (28) in the lever (6).
   (2) Install the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL (29) in the output bellcrank of the mechanical assembly of the free-fall actuator support. This is to make sure that the mechanical linkage is in the 0 position.
   (3) Engage the rod (4) in the fork of the lever (6) and make sure that the holes are aligned.
Adjust the length of the rod if necessary:
     (a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the nuts (2) at the two ends of the rod (4).
     (b) Loosen the nuts (2).
     (c) Release the washers (3) and turn the rod (4) until the holes are aligned.
     (d) TORQUE the nuts (2) to between 0.649 and 0.531 m.daN (57.43 and 46.99 lbf.in ) T.
     (e) Safety the nuts (2) with corrosion resistant steel lockwire 0.6 mm (0.023 in.) dia..
   (4) Install the bolt (5), the washer (7) and the nut (8) and tighten.
   (5) Safety the nut (8) with a
AIPC 32-33-01-07-010 COTTER PIN (9).
   (6) Remove the
98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN (28).
   (7) Remove the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL (29).
   (8) Make sure that all the control linkage components are free and do not rub against the adjacent control structures.

C. Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) to the bolt (24), the washer (19) and the nut (18).

D. Preparation for the Test
   (1) Remove the container.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

E. Test of the Vent Valve (20)
   (1) Do the functional test of the NLG free fall extension (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-720-004).
   (2) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (3) Put the access platform in position below the NLG vent valve (2532GM), in zone 123.
   (4) Make sure that there is no hydraulic fluid leakage from the vent valve (2532GM).
   (5) If necessary fill the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system to the correct level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-002).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
