Installation of the MLG Vent Valve

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the PTU isolation coupling is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002)
   (3) Make sure that the flight configuration precautions were obeyed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).
   (4) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (5) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

C. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • On the panel 40VU in the cockpit,
  • On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.

D. Preparation of the Replacement Component
   (1) Remove the unions (4) and (7) from the vent valve (12) you removed.
   (2) Remove and discard the packings (5) and (6).
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (16).
   (4) Remove the:
  • nut (15)
  • washer (14)
  • bolt (13)
  • the lever (17) from the splined shaft of the vent valve (12).
   (5) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the splined shaft of the new vent valve (12) and the bolt (13).
   (6) Align the master splines and install the lever (17) on the splined shaft of the new vent valve (12).
   (7) Install the bolt (13), the washer (14) and the nut (15).
   (8) Safety the nut (15) with the new AIPC 32-33-03-22-050 COTTER PIN (16) or the new AIPC 32-33-83-15-050 COTTER PIN (16).
   (9) Apply corrosion protection to the nut (15), the bolt (13) and the adjacent areas (
Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
   (10) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the threads of the unions (4) and (7).
   (11) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 32-33-03-22-090 PACKING (5) or the new AIPC 32-33-83-15-140 PACKING (5).
   (12) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.
02ABA1) to the new AIPC 32-33-03-22-110 PACKINGS (6) or the new AIPC 32-33-83-15-160 PACKINGS (6).
   (13) Put the packing (5) on the union (4) and the packings (6) on the unions (7).
   (14) Remove the blanking plugs from the new vent valve (12).
   (15) Install the unions (4) and (7) in the vent valve (12).
   (16) TORQUE the union (4) to between 1.88 and 1.76 m.daN (13.86 and 12.98 lbf.ft )
T.
   (17) TORQUE the unions (7) to between 3.47 and 3.19 m.daN (25.59 and 23.53 lbf.ft )
T.
   (18) Put the blanking plugs on the unions (4) and (7) if you do not install the vent valve (12) immediately.

E. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.
14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (5) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (9) and the component interface.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-33-13-420-052-A
A. Installation of the MLG Vent Valve 2516GM
   (1) Put the vent valve (12) in position and install the bolts (9) and the nuts (11).
   (2) Remove the blanking plugs.
   (3) Connect the connectors (3), (8) and (10) to the unions (4) and (7).
   (4) TORQUE the connection (3) to between 3.2 and 2.9 m.daN (23.60 and 21.39 lbf.ft ) T.
   (5) TORQUE the connections (8) and (10) to between 5.9 and 5.4 m.daN (43.51 and 39.82 lbf.ft )
T.
   (6) Make a mark on the connections with Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.
04JMD9) .

B. Put the rigging pins in position.
   (1) Put the 98DNSA20208060 RIGGING PIN through the lever into the forward face of the MLG door uplock 2521GM.
   (2) Put the 98DNSA20208040 RIGGING PIN through the lever into the forward face of the MLG vent valve 2516GM.

C. Adjust the Rod
   (1) Put the adjustable rod (1) between the forks of the lever (17) and make sure that the holes are aligned. If it is necessary, adjust the rod (1) at both ends as follows:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the locknuts (2).
     (b) Loosen the locknuts (2).
     (c) Turn the rod (1) until the holes are aligned.
     (d) Tighten the locknuts (2).
     (e) Make sure that the threads of the rod ends are in safety.
     (f) Safety the locknuts (2) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (2) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolt (22), the bush (21) and the washer (20).
   (3) Put the rod (17) in position and install the bush (21), the bolt (22), the washer (20) and the nut (19).
   (4) Safety the nut (19) with a new AIPC 32-33-03-01-170 COTTER PIN (18) or AIPC 32-33-83-01-020 COTTER PIN (18).

D. Remove the Rigging Pins
   (1) Remove the rigging pins:
  • From the lever at the forward face of the MLG door uplock 2521GM
  • From the lever at the forward face of the MLG vent valve 2516GM.

Subtask 32-33-13-860-052-A
F. Preparation for Test
   (1) Connect the PTU isolation coupling (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (2) If the flight configuration precautions were obeyed, put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-002).
   (3) Remove the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (7) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (8) If necessary fill the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system to the correct level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
Subtask 32-33-13-720-050-A
G. Functional Test
   (1) Do the functional check of the free-fall extension system (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-720-001).
   (2) Open the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that there is no hydraulic fluid leakage from the MLG vent valve (12). Leaks are not permitted.
5. Close-up
Subtask 32-33-13-410-051-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Apply corrosion protection (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002) to the:
  • nuts (11) and (19)
  • bolts (9) and (22)
  • connectors (3), (8) and (10)
  • adjacent areas.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
