A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Install the ground safety locks on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
Subtask 32-31-73-860-072-A (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Install the ground safety locks on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
- make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(a) Make sure a 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is correctly installed on each MLG door actuating-cylinder.
(4) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(a) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is correctly installed in the rigging holes of each NLG door.
(5) Open the FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(a) Make sure that a 98D52307515000 SAFETY LOCK-ACTUATOR,CARGO DOORS is correctly installed on the actuator of each cargo-compartment door.
4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009). (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(a) Make sure a 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is correctly installed on each MLG door actuating-cylinder.
(4) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(a) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is correctly installed in the rigging holes of each NLG door.
(5) Open the FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(a) Make sure that a 98D52307515000 SAFETY LOCK-ACTUATOR,CARGO DOORS is correctly installed on the actuator of each cargo-compartment door.
Subtask 32-31-73-760-053-A
A. Resistance Check of the Proximity Sensors without the LGCIU Breakout Box (38-798-01)
(2) At the applicable proximity sensor, disconnect the electrical connector.
(3) Use a MULTIMETER - STANDARD to measure and record the DC resistance between pins A and B of the applicable proximity sensor ASM 323103 or ASM 323104.
(a) The sensor coil resistance must be:
(5) Connect one test lead of a TESTER - INSULATION RESISTANCE to the pins AB and the other test lead to the case.
(6) Slowly supply a test signal at 50VDC for 5 seconds and read the resistance value shown.
(a) The resistance value must be more than 400 megohms.
(7) If necessary replace the applicable defective proximity sensor, (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-400-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-000-005) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-400-005).
Subtask 32-31-73-760-054-A NOTE: This subtask gives the procedure for the resistance check without the breakout box. If you want to do the resistance check with the breakout box, go to Para. 4.B.
(1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). (2) At the applicable proximity sensor, disconnect the electrical connector.
(3) Use a MULTIMETER - STANDARD to measure and record the DC resistance between pins A and B of the applicable proximity sensor ASM 323103 or ASM 323104.
(a) The sensor coil resistance must be:
- 11 to 13 ohms for a ferrite proximity sensor (P/N 8-484-01 or ABS0121-10)
- 16 to 18 ohms for an all metal proximity sensor (P/N 8-933-01 or ABS0121-40).
(5) Connect one test lead of a TESTER - INSULATION RESISTANCE to the pins AB and the other test lead to the case.
(6) Slowly supply a test signal at 50VDC for 5 seconds and read the resistance value shown.
(a) The resistance value must be more than 400 megohms.
(7) If necessary replace the applicable defective proximity sensor, (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-400-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-000-005) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-400-005).
B. Resistance/Inductance Check of the Proximity-Sensors with the LGCIU Breakout Box (38-798-01)
(2) Remove the LGCIU 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-71-000-001).
(3) Install the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX.
(4) Set the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX rocker switch and rotary switch to position 1.
(5) Connect the INDUCTANCE METER 1KHZ to the front panel of the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX.
(6) To measure the resistance and inductance of each proximity-sensor:
(8) Remove the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX from the LGCIU 1 position.
(9) Install the LGCIU 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-71-400-001).
(10) Remove the LGCIU 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-71-000-001).
(11) Install the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX on the LGCIU 2 rack position.
(12) Set the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX rocker switch and rotary switch to position 1.
(13) Connect the INDUCTANCE METER 1KHZ to the front panel of the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX.
(14) Measure the resistance and inductance values between pins A and B of the applicable proximity-sensors ASM 323104 as follows:
(a) For each proximity-sensor, turn the rotary switch clockwise from positions 1 thru 18.
(b) For FWD cargo door proximity-sensor, set the rotary switch to position 3 and the rocker switch to position 2.
(c) For AFT cargo door proximity-sensor, set the rotary switch to position 4 and the rocker switch to position 2.
(15) Record the resistance and inductance values in the record sheet.
(16) Remove the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX from the LGCIU 2 rack position.
(17) Install the LGCIU 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-71-400-001).
(18) Keep the record sheet to compare the resistance and inductance values.
(19) If the resistance and inductance values were measured before, compare the measured values and record the changes.
(20) Make sure that the resistance values of the applicable proximity-sensors are:
(22) If the resistance and inductance values are not correct, do the applicable troubleshooting procedure.
5. Close-upNOTE: This subtask gives the procedure for the resistance check with the breakout box. If you want to do the resistance check without the breakout box, go to Para. 4.A.
NOTE: You can do this check with the aircraft on ground or on jacks. If the resistance and inductance values were measured before, compare the measured values in the same aircraft configuration.
(1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). (2) Remove the LGCIU 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-71-000-001).
(3) Install the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX.
(4) Set the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX rocker switch and rotary switch to position 1.
(5) Connect the INDUCTANCE METER 1KHZ to the front panel of the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX.
(6) To measure the resistance and inductance of each proximity-sensor:
- Turn the rotary switch clockwise from positions 1 thru 22.
(8) Remove the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX from the LGCIU 1 position.
(9) Install the LGCIU 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-71-400-001).
(10) Remove the LGCIU 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-71-000-001).
(11) Install the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX on the LGCIU 2 rack position.
(12) Set the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX rocker switch and rotary switch to position 1.
(13) Connect the INDUCTANCE METER 1KHZ to the front panel of the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX.
(14) Measure the resistance and inductance values between pins A and B of the applicable proximity-sensors ASM 323104 as follows:
(a) For each proximity-sensor, turn the rotary switch clockwise from positions 1 thru 18.
(b) For FWD cargo door proximity-sensor, set the rotary switch to position 3 and the rocker switch to position 2.
(c) For AFT cargo door proximity-sensor, set the rotary switch to position 4 and the rocker switch to position 2.
(15) Record the resistance and inductance values in the record sheet.
(16) Remove the 38-798-01 A320FAM LGCIU BREAKOUT BOX from the LGCIU 2 rack position.
(17) Install the LGCIU 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-71-400-001).
(18) Keep the record sheet to compare the resistance and inductance values.
(19) If the resistance and inductance values were measured before, compare the measured values and record the changes.
(20) Make sure that the resistance values of the applicable proximity-sensors are:
- 10 to 25 ohms for a ferrite proximity-sensor (P/N 8-484-01 or ABS0121-10)
- 13 to 30 ohms for metal proximity-sensors (P/N 8-933-01 or ABS0121-40).
(22) If the resistance and inductance values are not correct, do the applicable troubleshooting procedure.
Subtask 32-31-73-860-073-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Close the FWD and aft cargo-compartment doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(2) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
(3) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
Subtask 32-31-73-942-064-A (1) Close the FWD and aft cargo-compartment doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(2) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
(3) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
(3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
(3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
