WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On the panel 400VU:
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) On the panel 110VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is on the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position below the applicable zone 123 or 124.
   (2) Make sure that the NLG doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that the 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed on each NLG door.

   (1) If you did not de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits, make sure that the flight configuration precautions are done (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-31-73-420-069-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Make sure that the applicable bonded shims/spacers are correctly installed and are not loose.

B. Installation of the NLG Proximity-Sensors
NOTE: If the correct clearance can be set without the shim, you can install a sensor target without a shim.
   (1) For NLG door-closed proximity-sensors 30GA and 31GA, do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put the applicable proximity sensor (128) in position on the NLG door uplock.
     (b) Install the bolts (127) and the nuts (125).
     (c) Make sure that the proximity sensor (128) is in the position identified before removal.
     (d) Tighten the nuts (125).
     (e) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (f) Make sure that the electrical connector (126) is in the correct condition.
     (g) Connect the electrical connector (126) to the applicable proximity sensor (128).
   (2) For NLG uplock proximity-sensor 13GA (12GA), do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Apply a layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the bolts (127) and the nuts (125).
     (b) Put the proximity sensor (128) in position on the NLG uplock.
     (c) Install the bolts (127) and the nuts (125).
     (d) Make sure that the proximity sensor (128) is in the position identified before removal.
     (e) TORQUE the nuts (125) to between 2.0 and 1.5 m.N (17.70 and 13.27 lbf.in ) T.
     (f) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (g) Make sure that the electrical connector (126) is in the correct condition.
     (h) Connect the electrical connector (126) to the proximity sensor (128).
   (3) For NLG downlock proximity-sensors 19GA (18GA), do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put the proximity sensor (145) and the shim (if applicable) in position on the sensor mounting bracket.
     (b) Install with the bolts (146), the washers (143) and the nuts (144).
     (c) If the target (149) was removed, do the steps that follow:
       1 Put the target (149) and the shim (if applicable) in position on the target mounting bracket.
       2 Install the bolts (148) and the washers (147).
     (d) Make sure that the proximity sensor (145) and the target (149) are in the positions identified before removal.
     (e) Tighten the nuts (144).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (f) Safety the bolts (148) with 14QDC1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES -.
     (g) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (h) Make sure that the electrical connector (142) is in the correct condition.
     (i) Connect the electrical connector (142) to the proximity sensor (145).
   (4) For NLG extension proximity-sensor 24GA (25GA), do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put the proximity sensor (153) and the shim (if applicable) in position on the sensor mounting bracket.
     (b) Install the bolts (152), the washers (151) and the nuts (150).
     (c) If the target (154) was removed, do the steps that follow:
       1 Put the target (154) in position on the target mounting bracket.
       2 Install the bolts (155), the washers (156) and the nuts (157).
     (d) Make sure that the proximity sensor (153) and the target (154) are in the positions identified before removal.
     (e) Tighten the nuts (150).
     (f) If necessary, tighten the nuts (157).
     (g) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (h) Make sure the electrical connector (158) is in the correct condition.
     (i) Connect the electrical connector (158) to the proximity sensor (153).
   (5) For NLG door-open proximity-sensors 37GA (38GA) and 39GA (36GA), do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put the applicable proximity sensor (135) in position on the related sensor mounting bracket.
     (b) Install the bolts (136), the washers (133) and the nuts (134).
     (c) If the target (140) was removed, do the steps that follow:
       1 Put the applicable target (140) on the related target mounting bracket.
       2 Install the bolts (141), the washers (137) and the nuts (138).
     (d) Make sure that the applicable proximity sensor (135) and the related target (140) are in the positions identified before removal.
     (e) Tighten the nuts (134).
     (f) If necessary, tighten the nuts (138).
     (g) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (h) Make sure that the electrical connector (132) is in the correct condition.
     (i) Connect the electrical connector (132) to the applicable proximity sensor (135).
   (6) For NLG uplock proximity-sensor 12GA (13GA) and NLG door-closed proximity-sensors 30GA (31GA) apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
  • The bolts (129)
  • The nuts (125).
   (7) For NLG door-open proximity-sensors 37GA (38GA) and 39GA (36GA) apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
  • The bolts (136) and (141)
  • The nuts (134) and (138).
   (8) For NLG downlock proximity-sensors 19GA (18GA) apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
  • The bolts (146) and (148)
  • The nuts (144).
   (9) For NLG extension proximity-sensors 24GA and 25GA apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
  • The bolts (152) and (155)
  • The nut (150) and (157).

B. Installation of the NLG Proximity-Sensors
NOTE: If the correct clearance can be set without the shim, you can install a sensor target without a shim.
   (1) For NLG door-closed proximity-sensors 30GA and 31GA, do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put the applicable proximity sensor (128) in position on the NLG door uplock.
     (b) Install the bolts (127) and the nuts (125).
     (c) Make sure that the proximity sensor (128) is in the position identified before removal.
     (d) Tighten the nuts (125).
     (e) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (f) Make sure that the electrical connector (126) is in the correct condition.
     (g) Connect the electrical connector (126) to the applicable proximity sensor (128).
   (2) For NLG uplock proximity-sensor 13GA (12GA), do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Apply a layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the bolts (127) and the nuts (125).
     (b) Put the proximity sensor (128) in position on the NLG uplock.
     (c) Install the bolts (127) and the nuts (125).
     (d) Make sure that the proximity sensor (128) is in the position identified before removal.
     (e) TORQUE the nuts (125) to between 2.0 and 1.5 m.N (17.70 and 13.27 lbf.in ) T.
     (f) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (g) Make sure that the electrical connector (126) is in the correct condition.
     (h) Connect the electrical connector (126) to the proximity sensor (128).
   (3) For NLG downlock proximity-sensors 19GA (18GA), do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put the proximity sensor (145) and the shim (if applicable) in position on the sensor mounting bracket.
     (b) Install with the bolts (146), the washers (143) and the nuts (144).
     (c) If the target (149) was removed, do the steps that follow:
       1 Put the target (149) and the shim (if applicable) in position on the target mounting bracket.
       2 Install the bolts (148) and the washers (147).
     (d) Make sure that the proximity sensor (145) and the target (149) are in the positions identified before removal.
     (e) Tighten the nuts (144).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (f) Safety the bolts (148) with 14QDC1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES -.
     (g) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (h) Make sure that the electrical connector (142) is in the correct condition.
     (i) Connect the electrical connector (142) to the proximity sensor (145).
   (4) For NLG extension proximity-sensor 24GA (25GA), do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put the proximity sensor (153) and the shim (if applicable) in position on the sensor mounting bracket.
     (b) Install the bolts (152), the washers (151) and the nuts (150).
     (c) If the target (154) was removed, do the steps that follow:
       1 Put the target (154) in position on the target mounting bracket.
       2 Install the bolts (155), the washers (156) and the nuts (157).
     (d) Make sure that the proximity sensor (153) and the target (154) are in the positions identified before removal.
     (e) Tighten the nuts (150).
     (f) If necessary, tighten the nuts (157).
     (g) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (h) Make sure the electrical connector (158) is in the correct condition.
     (i) Connect the electrical connector (158) to the proximity sensor (153).
   (5) For NLG door-open proximity-sensors 37GA (38GA) and 39GA (36GA), do the steps that follow:
F NLG Proximity Sensors ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Put the applicable proximity sensor (135) in position on the related sensor mounting bracket.
     (b) Install the bolts (136), the washers (133) and the nuts (134).
     (c) If the target (140) was removed, do the steps that follow:
       1 Put the applicable target (140) on the related target mounting bracket.
       2 Install the bolts (141), the washers (137) and the nuts (138).
     (d) Make sure that the applicable proximity sensor (135) and the related target (140) are in the positions identified before removal.
     (e) Tighten the nuts (134).
     (f) If necessary, tighten the nuts (138).
     (g) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (h) Make sure that the electrical connector (132) is in the correct condition.
     (i) Connect the electrical connector (132) to the applicable proximity sensor (135).
   (6) For NLG door-open proximity-sensors 37GA (38GA) and 39GA (36GA) apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
  • The bolts (136) and (141)
  • The nuts (134) and (138).
   (7) For NLG downlock proximity-sensors 19GA (18GA) apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
  • The bolts (146) and (148)
  • The nuts (144).
   (8) For NLG extension proximity-sensors 24GA and 25GA apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
  • The bolts (152) and (155)
  • The nut (150) and (157).

D. Ground Configuration
   (1) If you did not de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits, put the aircraft back to the ground configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-002).

E. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).

F. Test
   (1) Do a BITE test of the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-69-00-740-001).
   (2) For the proximity-sensors 18GA(19GA), 24GA(25GA), 36GA(37GA) and 38GA(39GA):
     (a) It is permitted to do the inspection at the next maintenance check or at 15 flight cycles or 36 flight hours (the one that occurs first), if:
  • The proximity-sensor was only replaced
  • The target and the bracket were not moved
  • The shim was installed in the same position.

   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
