WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS AGREE WITH THE POSITION OF THE ITEMS THEY OPERATE BEFORE YOU PRESSURIZE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED ITEMS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE LANDING GEAR ARE CLEAR.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
A. Bleeding MLG Actuating Cylinder
NOTE: Two persons are necessary for this procedure. One person must be in the cockpit to operate the landing-gear control lever (6GA). The other person must be near the MLG to operate the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC and to monitor the movement of the MLG. The two persons must be able to speak to each other.
   (1) Start the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC. Make sure that:
  • The necessary minimum flow capacity from the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC is 140 l.min (36.9838 USgal.mn).
  • You start the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC in no-load position and there is no flow from the hydraulic rig.
  • You do not pressurize the Green hydraulic system.
   (2) On panel 400VU:
  • Move the landing-gear control lever (6GA) to the UP position.
   (3) At the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC:
  • Carefully open the flow control valve to make the landing gear retract to between 20 and 30 degrees from the vertical.
NOTE: The rate of retraction of the landing gear is controlled by the position of the flow control valve.
   (4) At the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC:
  • Close the flow control valve.
NOTE: This will stop the movement of the MLG.
   (5) On panel 400VU:
  • Move the landing-gear control lever (6GA) to the DOWN position.
   (6) At the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC:
  • Carefully open the flow control valve to extend the MLG.
NOTE: The rate of extension of the landing gear is controlled by the position of the flow control valve.
   (7) In the cockpit:
  • Make sure the applicable MLG is in the locked down position.
   (8) At the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC:
  • Fully close the flow control valve.
   (9) Do the steps (2) thru (8) again for a minimum of ten times to fully bleed the system.
