LUBRICATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-31-46-941-057-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the MLG doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (4) On the panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S)S are in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems:
  • In the cockpit, on the HYD overhead panel 40VU
  • On the hydraulic ground service panels 197CB and 198CB
  • On the access door 195BB.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (2) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoirs is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
     (a) FOR [2503GM] (ACTG CYL-MLG, L)
  • Below zone 571.
     (b) FOR [2504GM] (ACTG CYL-MLG, R)
  • Below zone 671.

C. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
   (2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the circuit breakers.

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-31-46-420-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the interfaces of the:
  • Pin (1)
  • Bearings (9).

NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).

   (3) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
Subtask 32-31-46-420-060-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the interfaces of the:
  • Pin (1)
  • Bearings (11).

NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).

   (3) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
Subtask 32-31-46-420-060-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the pin (1).
Subtask 32-31-46-420-061-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the MLG Actuating Cylinder Wing-End Pin
   (1) Use the 98D32104015000 GUIDE CONE to install the pin (1) in the actuating cylinder.
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the interfaces of the:
  • Bottom end of the pin (1)
  • Collar (7)
  • Bolt (6)
  • Nylon-washer (5)
  • Washer (4)
  • Nut (3).
   (3) Put the collar (7) on the pin (1) and install it with the:
  • Bolt (6)
  • Nylon-washer (5)
  • Washer (4)
  • Nut (3).
     (a) Make sure that the parts are correctly installed.
   (4) Tighten the nut (3) on the thread of the bolt (6).
   (5) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 18 and 9 m.N (159.29 and 79.65 lbf.in ) T and align with the hole for the cotter pin (2).
   (6) Safety the nut (3) with the new
AIPC 32-31-46-01-040 COTTER PIN (2).

B. Installation of the MLG Actuating Cylinder Wing-End Pin
   (1) Use the
98D32104015000 GUIDE CONE to install the pin (1) in the actuating cylinder.
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the interfaces of the:
  • bottom end of the pin (1)
  • collar (9)
  • bolt (8)
  • washer (7), if applicable
  • Nylon-washer (6)
  • Washer (5), if applicable
  • Washer (4)
  • Nut (3).
   (3) Put the collar (9) on the pin (1) and install it with the:
  • Bolt (8)
  • Washer (7), if applicable
  • Nylon-washer (6)
  • Washer (5), if applicable
  • Washer (4)
  • Nut (3).
NOTE: Make sure that the parts are correctly installed.
   (4) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 0.8 and 0.5 m.daN (70.80 and 44.25 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Safety the nut (3) with the new
AIPC 32-31-46-01-040 COTTER PIN (2).

B. Installation of the MLG Actuating Cylinder Wing-End Pin
   (1) Install the pin (1) in the actuating cylinder.
   (2) Put the collar (3) on the pin (1) and install it with the:
  • Bolt (2)
  • Nylon-washer (4)
  • Washer (5)
  • Nut (6).
   (3) TORQUE the nut (6) to between 0.8 and 0.5 m.daN (70.80 and 44.25 lbf.in ) T.
   (4) Safety the nut (6) with the new
AIPC 32-31-46-01-040 COTTER PIN (7) or AIPC 32-31-85-10-040 COTTER PIN (7)>.
   (5) Application of sealants:
     (a) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Brushable - (Material No.
06ACA1) to the:
  • Head of the bolt (2)
  • Nut (6)
  • Washer (5)
  • Nylon-washer (4).
     (b) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the sealant on the:
  • Head of the bolt (2)
  • Nut (6)
  • Washer (5)
  • Nylon-washer (4).

C. Dimensional Check
   (1) Make sure that the dimension X is between 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.) and 6.1 mm (0.2402 in.) at one of the anti-roll pins (8). Dimension X is the correct clearance when the opposite anti-roll pin is held against the washer (10).

C. Dimensional Check
   (1) Make sure that the dimension X is between 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.) and 6.1 mm (0.2402 in.) at one of the anti-roll pins (10). Dimension X is the correct clearance when the opposite anti-roll pin is held against the washer (12).

C. Dimensional Check
   (1) Make sure that the dimension X is between 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.) and 6.1 mm (0.2402 in.) at one of the anti-roll pegs (8). Dimension X is the correct clearance when the opposite anti-roll peg is held against the washer (10).

D. Continue with the Installation Procedure
   (1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (2) Connect the hydraulic hoses to the actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-46-400-001).
   (3) Lubricate the actuating cylinder and fittings (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).

E. Close Access
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (1) Install the cover plates (13) and (14) as follows:
     (a) Put the cover plates (13) and (14) in position on the wing.
     (b) Install the bridge plates (15) and (16) and the nuts (17) and (18).
     (c) Torque the nuts (17) and (18) as follows:
       1 TORQUE the nuts (17) and (18) to between 5 and 3 m.N (44.25 and 26.55 lbf.in ) T.
       2 If necessary, loosen the nuts (17) and (18) until you can align the holes for the cotter pins (19) and (20).
       3 To make sure that the nuts (17) and (18) are sufficiently tight, do the step that follows:
         a Use the 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) GAGE - FEELER and make sure that it does not go in the space between:
  • The nut (17) and the bridge plate (15)
  • The nut (18) and the bridge plate (16).
     (d) Safety the nut (17) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-67-015 PIN (19) or AIPC 57-51-85-67-020 PIN (19).
     (e) Safety the nut (18) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-67-010 PIN (20) or AIPC 57-51-85-67-010 PIN (20).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Connect the isolation coupling of the PTU (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (5) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).

F. Bleeding
   (1) Bleed the MLG actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-46-600-001).

G. Functional Test
   (1) Do a functional test of the normal extension and retraction of the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-720-002).
   (2) Make sure that there are no leaks from the MLG actuating cylinder. Leaks are not permitted.

H. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
