A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On the panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems:
  • In the cockpit, on the HYD overhead panel 40VU
  • On the hydraulic ground service-panels 197CB and 198CB
  • On the access door 195BB.

B. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
   (2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the flight configuration precautions with electrical power (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the circuit breakers.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow and Green Hydraulic systems are de-pressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (3) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoirs have been depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position:
     (a) FOR [2503GM] (ACTG CYL-MLG, L)
below zone 571
     (b) FOR [2504GM] (ACTG CYL-MLG, R)
below zone 671.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-31-46-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the MLG Actuating Cylinder Eye-End Pin
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pin (8). Remove the nut (7), the washer (6), the cap (5) and the bolt (1).
   (2) Remove the pin (3).

   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pin (2).
   (2) Remove the nut (3), the washer (4), the cap (1) and the bolt (8).
   (3) Remove the pin (6).
