A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft is on jacks.
   (2) Make sure that the PTU isolation coupling is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (3) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (4) Make sure that the flight configuration precautions are obeyed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).
   (5) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (6) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

C. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) Put a SAFETY BARRIER(S) on the ground service connection to tell persons not to pressurize the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems.
   (4) On the panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.

D. Preparation of the Replacement Component
   (1) Make sure that the dimension "Y" of the new support strut A is the same of that retained from the removed component.
   (2) Make sure that the dimension "Z" of the new support strut B is the same of that retained from the removed component.
Subtask 32-31-44-820-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
E. Adjustment of the Support Strut A and B
   (1) Make sure that the dimension "Y" of the new support strut A is 168.55 mm (6.64 in.).
   (2) If necessary adjust to dimension "Y":
     (a) Bend back the lockwasher from the eye end-lock nut if it is safetied.
     (b) Loosen the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Turn the eye end IN or OUT until the dimension "Y" is reached.
     (d) Tighten the eye end-lock nut but do not torque at this time.
   (3) Make sure that the dimension "Z" of the new support strut B is 230.64 mm (9.08 in.).
   (4) If necessary adjust to "Dimension Z":
     (a) Bend back the lockwasher from the eye end-lock nut if it is safetied.
     (b) Loosen the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Turn the eye end IN or OUT until the dimension "Z" is reached.
     (d) Tighten the eye end-lock nut but do not torque at this time.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-31-44-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the MLG Uplock-Support Struts
   (1) Install the support strut A:
     (a) Put the support strut A (8) in position on the uplock assembly (25).
     (b) Install the bolt (6) and the washers assembly (7).
     (c) Install the washers (9), (10) and the nut (12).
     (d) Put the eye end in position and install the bolt (1) together with the bush (2).
     (e) Install the washer (3) and the nut (4). Tighten the nut with the hand.
   (2) Install the support strut B:
     (a) Put the support strut B (15) in position on the uplock assembly (25).
     (b) Install the bolt (13) and the washers assembly (14).
     (c) Install the washers (16), (17) and the nut (18).
     (d) Put the eye end in position and install the bolt (24) together with the bush (23).
     (e) Install the washer (22) and the nut (20). Tighten the nut with the hand.
   (3) Install the 98D32104018000 SETTING TOOL-UPLOCK.
   (4) Connect a GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC and slowly retract the landing gear until the gear pin is engaged in the uplock.
   (5) Measure the dimension "W" at the setting tool.
NOTE: The initial setting at the setting tool is between 177 mm (6.97 in.) minimum and 201 mm (7.91 in.) maximum.
   (6) If the dimension "W" is not between the values 168 mm (6.61 in.) minimum and 186 mm (7.32 in.) maximum, adjust as follows:
     (a) Slowly lower the landing gear until it is locked down.
     (b) Disconnect the eye end of uplock from the attachment bracket and adjust as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-44-400-003).
   (7) If necessary adjust to dimension "Y"(second adjustment):
     (a) Bend back the lockwasher from the eye end-lock nut if it is safetied.
     (b) Loosen the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Turn the eye end IN or OUT until you get the dimension "Y".
   (8) Make sure that the dimension "Y" of the new support strut A is 163.6 +0.5 -0.5 mm (6.44 +0.02 -0.02 in.).
     (a) Tighten the eye end-lock nut but do not torque at this time.
   (9) If necessary adjust to "Dimension Z"(second adjustment):
     (a) Bend back the lockwasher from the eye end-lock nut if it is safetied.
     (b) Loosen the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Turn the eye end IN or OUT until you get the dimension "Z".
   (10) Make sure that the dimension "Z" of the new support strut B is 226.7 +0.5 -0.5 mm (8.93 +0.02 -0.02 in.).
     (a) Tighten the eye end-lock nut but do not torque at this time.
   (11) Make sure that the dimension "B" is 29.5 +6.2 -6.2 mm (1.16 +0.24 -0.24 in.).
   (12) Make sure that the dimension "A" is 2 +1 -1 mm (0.08 +0.04 -0.04 in.).
   (13) If the dimension "A" or "B" is not correct, adjust as follows:
     (a) Lower the landing gear until it is locked down.
     (b) Remove the nut (4) the bolt (1) the bush (2) and the washer (3).
     (c) Remove the eye end of the strut A from the structure.
     (d) Turn the eye end in or out to get the correct value.
     (e) Remove the nut (20) the bolt (24) the bush (23) and the washer (22).
     (f) Remove the eye end of the strut B from the structure.
     (g) Turn the eye end in half turn increments in or out to get the correct value.
NOTE: For strut A: One half (1/2) turn of the eye end gives 1.1 mm (0.04 in.) movement of the uplock hook inboard/outboard.
For strut B: One half (1/2) turn of the eye end gives 0.6 mm (0.02 in.) movement of the uplock hook forward/aft.
   (14) Make sure that the final adjustment of the strut A (dimension "Y") is between 177 mm (6.97 in.) maximum and 160 mm (6.30 in.) minimum.
   (15) Make sure that the final adjustment of the strut B (dimension "Z") is between 239 mm (9.41 in.) maximum and 222 mm (8.74 in.) minimum.
   (16) Put the strut A in position and install the bush (2), the bolt (1), the washer (3) and the nut (4).
   (17) Put the strut B in position and install the bush (23), the bolt (24), the washer (22) and the nut (20).
   (18) Retract the landing gear and check all the dimensions again.
   (19) TORQUE the Support Strut A:
     (a) Tighten the eye end-lock nut and TORQUE to between 1.4 and 1.3 m.daN (123.89 and 115.04 lbf.in ) T.
     (b) Bend up the lock washer to safety the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Tighten the nut (12) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-03-22-260 COTTER PIN (11) or AIPC 32-31-83-40-170 COTTER PIN (11).
     (d) Tighten the nut (4) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-03-22-180 COTTER PIN (5) or AIPC 32-31-83-40-070 COTTER PIN (5).
   (20) TORQUE the Support Strut B:
     (a) Tighten the eye end-lock nut and TORQUE to between 1.4 and 1.3 m.daN (123.89 and 115.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (b) Bend up the lock washer to safety the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Tighten the nut (18) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-03-22-260 COTTER PIN (19) or AIPC 32-31-83-40-170 COTTER PIN (19).
     (d) Tighten the nut (20) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-03-22-180 COTTER PIN (21) or AIPC 32-31-83-40-070 COTTER PIN (21).
   (21) Remove the Setting Tool-Uplock.
Subtask 32-31-44-420-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the MLG Uplock-Support Struts
   (1) Install the support strut A:
     (a) Put the support strut A (8) in position on the uplock assembly (25).
     (b) Install the bolt (6) and the washers assembly (7).
     (c) Install the washers (9), (10) and the nut (12).
     (d) Put the eye end of the strut A (8) in position and install the bolt (1) together with the bush (2).
     (e) Install the washer (3) and the nut (4). Tighten the nut (4) with your hand.
   (2) Install the support strut B:
     (a) Put support strut B (15) in position on the uplock assembly (25).
     (b) Install the bolt (13) and the washers assembly (14).
     (c) Install the washers (16), (17) and the nut (19).
     (d) Put the eye end of strut B (15) in position and install the bolt (24) together with the bush (23).
     (e) Install the washer (22) and the nut (20). Tighten the nut (20) with your hand.
   (3) Install the 98D32104018000 SETTING TOOL-UPLOCK.
   (4) Connect a GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC and slowly retract the landing gear until the gear pin is engaged in the uplock.
   (5) Measure the dimension W at the 98D32104018000 SETTING TOOL-UPLOCK.
NOTE: The initial setting at the setting tool is between 177 mm (6.9685 in.) and 201 mm (7.9134 in.).
   (6) If the dimension W is not between 168 mm (6.6142 in.) and 186 mm (7.3228 in.), adjust as follows:
     (a) Slowly lower the landing gear until it is locked down.
     (b) Disconnect the eye end of uplock from the attachment bracket and adjust as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-44-400-003).
   (7) If necessary adjust to dimension Y (second adjustment):
     (a) Bend back the lockwasher from the eye end-lock nut if it is safetied.
     (b) Loosen the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Turn the eye end IN or OUT until you get dimension Y.
   (8) Make sure that dimension Y of the new support strut A is between 163.1 mm (6.4213 in.) and 164.1 mm (6.4606 in.).
     (a) Tighten the eye end-lock nut but do not torque at this time.
   (9) If necessary adjust to dimension Z (second adjustment):
     (a) Bend back the lockwasher from the eye end-lock nut if it is safetied.
     (b) Loosen the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Turn the eye end IN or OUT until you get dimension Z.
   (10) Make sure that dimension Z of the new support strut B is between 226.2 mm (8.9055 in.) and 227.2 mm (8.9449 in.).
     (a) Tighten the eye end-lock nut but do not torque at this time.
   (11) Use the GAGE - DEPTH and make sure that dimension B between surfaces A and B is between 21.5 mm (0.8465 in.) and 29.5 mm (1.1614 in.).
   (12) If dimension B is not correct, adjust as follows:
     (a) Lower the landing gear until it is locked down.
     (b) Remove the nut (20) the bolt (24) the bush (23) and the washer (22).
     (c) Remove the eye end of the strut B from the structure.
     (d) Turn the eye end in half turn increments in or out to get the correct value.
NOTE: One half (1/2) turn of the eye end gives 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) movement of the uplock hook forward/aft.
   (13) Make sure that the final adjustment of the strut B (dimension Z) is between 222 mm (8.7402 in.) and 239 mm (9.4095 in.).
   (14) Put the strut B in position and install the bush (23), the bolt (24), the washer (22) and the nut (20).
   (15) Retract the landing gear and do a check of all the dimensions again.
   (16) TORQUE the support strut A:
     (a) TORQUE the eye end-lock nut to between 14 and 13 m.N (123.89 and 115.04 lbf.in ) T.
     (b) Bend up the lock washer to safety the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Tighten the nut (12) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-03-22-260 COTTER PIN (11) or a new AIPC 32-31-83-40-170 COTTER PIN (11).
     (d) Tighten the nut (4) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-03-22-180 COTTER PIN (5) or a new AIPC 32-31-83-40-070 COTTER PIN (5).
   (17) TORQUE the support strut B:
     (a) TORQUE the eye end-lock nut to between 14 and 13 m.N (123.89 and 115.04 lbf.in )
T.
     (b) Bend up the lock washer to safety the eye end-lock nut.
     (c) Tighten the nut (19) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-83-40-170 COTTER PIN (18).
     (d) Tighten the nut (20) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-83-40-070 COTTER PIN (21).
   (18) Remove the
98D32104018000 SETTING TOOL-UPLOCK.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Preparation for Test
   (1) Connect the PTU isolation coupling (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (2) Obey the flight configuration precautions and put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-002).
   (3) Remove the CONTAINER - HYDRAULIC FLUID RESISTANT.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (7) Close the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (8) If necessary, fill the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system to the correct level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).

D. Do the Test
   (1) Do the functional test of the MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-720-002).
   (2) Do the functional test of the free-fall extension system of the MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-720-001).
   (3) Open the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (4) Make sure that there is no hydraulic fluid leakage from the uplock assembly.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the nuts, bolts, washers, hydraulic pipes and adjacent areas (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
