3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-31-36-860-054-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (3) Make sure that the left MLG door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (4) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
   (5) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (6) Make sure that the PTU isolation coupling is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (7) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • On panel 40VU in the cockpit
  • On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
   (8) Obey the flight configuration precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).
   (9) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (10) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position at zone 734.
   (11) Make sure that the CONTAINER - HYDRAULIC FLUID RESISTANT is in position below the disconnected line ends to collect unwanted hydraulic fluid.

4. Procedure

A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

B. Installation of the Manifold Assembly
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
   (1) Put the manifold (4) in position on the bracket (9).
   (2) Install the washers (5) and the bolts (6).
   (3) Tighten the bolts (6).
   (4) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the:
   (5) Install the new packing (3) on the reducer (2).
   (6) Install the reducer (2) on the manifold (4).
   (7) TORQUE the reducer (2) to between 4.61 and 4.32 m.daN (34.00 and 31.86 lbf.ft )
T.
   (8) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the disconnected end of the hydraulic line (1).
   (9) Connect the hydraulic line (1) to the reducer (2).
   (10) TORQUE the nut of the hydraulic line (1) to between 3.20 and 2.90 m.daN (23.60 and 21.39 lbf.ft )
T.
   (11) Install the MLG check valves (7) and (8) (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-36-400-001).
   (12) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).

B. Preparation for Test
   (1) Connect the PTU isolation coupling (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (2) If the flight configuration precautions were obeyed, put the aircraft back to the ground configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-002).
   (3) Remove the CONTAINER - HYDRAULIC FLUID RESISTANT.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (7) If necessary, fill the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system to the correct level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).

C. Test(s)
   (1) Do a functional check of free-fall extension (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-720-001).
   (2) Open the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
   (4) Make sure that there is no hydraulic fluid leakage from the check valve(s).

D. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Apply corrosion protection to the check valve(s), the pipe connections and the adjacent areas (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
   (3) Remove the safety devices from the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-081-002).
   (4) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT).
   (5) Close the left MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).

E. Pressurization of the Hydraulic System
   (1) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).

F. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

G. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
