1. Reason for the Job
This task must only be used for the replacement of cap screws that are in the correct condition.
If the NLG Bypass-Valve has a hydraulic leak, or one or more of the cap screws are damaged, the valve must be:
  • Removed, inspected and repaired or replaced.
    This task is only applicable to NLG Bypass-Valves that have part numbers:
  • 114087001, 114087002, 114087003, 114087004, 114087005, 114087006, 114087007 and 114087008.

3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001)
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
   (3) After you depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system, wait a minimum of 20 minutes before you do the procedure that follows.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on the right-center instrument-panel 400VU, put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear control lever.
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • On panel 40VU in the cockpit
  • On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, at the access door 197CB.
   (3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (4) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the doors of the nose landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 123.
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Lever
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE NLG DOWNLOCK SAFETY PIN AND THE TWO DOOR SAFETY PINS ARE INSTALLED.
   (1) Remove and discard the cotter pin (13).
   (2) Remove the nut (12) and washer (11).
   (3) Remove the bolt (8) and disconnect the rod (6).
   (4) Remove and discard the cotter pin (3).
   (5) Remove the nut (4) and washer (5).
   (6) Remove the screw (10) and lever (9).

D. Connection of the Rod
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE NLG DOWNLOCK SAFETY PIN AND THE TWO DOOR SAFETY PINS ARE INSTALLED.
   (1) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001).
   (2) Move the lever (9) to doors closed position.
   (3) Install the 98A32301013000 RIGGING PIN (7) on the selector valve (2).
   (4) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001).
   (5) Put the door ground-opening control-handle in the closed position and put the safety pin in position.
   (6) Put the rod (6) in position and install the bolt (8).
   (7) Install the washer (11) and nut (12).
   (8) TORQUE the nut (12) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in ) T and safety it with the new AIPC 32-31-01-09-010 COTTER PIN (13) or AIPC 32-31-81-09-010 COTTER PIN (13).
   (9) Remove the
98A32301013000 RIGGING PIN (7).

E. Prepare for the Test
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the safety pin from the door ground-opening handle.
   (3) Put the door ground-opening handle in the open position.
   (4) Install the safety pin on the handle.
   (5) Make sure that the travel ranges of the NLG doors are clear.
   (6) Remove the access platform(s).

F. Operational Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the applicable NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-710-002).
NOTE: The operational test is only for the NLG doors opening bypass-valve that you installed or on which you did maintenance. The operational test on all the doors is optional.

G. Functional Test
   (1) Do five full DOOR CLOSE/DOOR OPEN cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Make sure that there are no malfunctions during these operations.
   (3) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the NLG-door ground-opening bypass-valve (2533GM).
   (5) Make sure that there are no leaks at the NLG-door ground-opening bypass-valve.
   (6) If necessary, fill the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system to the correct level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-002).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Close the doors of the nose landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
