3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-31-13-941-050-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On the panel 400VU:
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the ground connection to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow and Green Hydraulic systems.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below applicable zone 147(148).
   (2) Put the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) in position below the applicable bypass-valve.
   (3) Open the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (4) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is installed on the applicable MLG door actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow and Green hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (2) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-31-13-020-050-B
A. Removal of the MLG Door Ground-Opening Bypass-Valve
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
   (1) Disconnect the end-fittings of the hydraulic pipe lines from the bypass-valve (6):
     (a) FOR [2517GM] (BYPASS VALVE-MLG DOOR GROUND OPENING, L)
       1 Disconnect the end-fittings (4), (5) and (22) of the hydraulic pipe lines from the unions (3).
     (b) FOR [2518GM] (BYPASS VALVE-MLG DOOR GROUND OPENING, R)
       1 Disconnect the end-fittings (4), (5) and (23) of the hydraulic pipe lines from the unions (3).
     (c) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (2) Disconnect the control rod (14) of the door uplock from the bypass lever (9) as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (11).
     (b) Remove the nut (12), washer (10), bolt (17) and bush (16).
   (3) Remove the bushes (13) and (15) from the bypass lever (9).
   (4) Disconnect the flexible control assembly (1) from the bypass lever (25) as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (31).
     (b) Remove the nut (30), washer (32), bolt (35) and bush (34).
   (5) Remove the bushes (33) and (36) from the bypass lever (25).
   (6) Hold the bypass-valve (6) and remove the nuts (28) and the bolts (7).
   (7) Remove the bypass-valve (6).
   (8) If you will install a replacement bypass-valve (6), remove the bypass levers and the unions from the removed bypass-valve (6) as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (19).
     (b) Remove the nut (18), washer (20) and bolt (8).
     (c) Remove the bypass lever (9).
     (d) Remove and discard the cotter pin (29).
     (e) Remove the nut (27), washer (26) and bolt (24).
     (f) Remove the bypass lever (25).
     (g) Put the TAPE - MASKING on the splines at each end of the shaft (21).
     (h) Remove the unions (3) together with the packings (2) from the bypass-valve (8). Discard the packings (2).
     (i) Put the PLUG - BLANKING on the hydraulic openings of the bypass-valve (6).
     (j) Retain the bypass levers (9) and (25) and the unions (3) for installation.
