A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001)
(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
(3) Lift the aircraft with jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
Subtask 32-21-16-941-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.

(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
(3) Lift the aircraft with jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
B. Safety Precautions
(1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
(4) Obey the applicable safety precautions before you open the LGCIU circuits breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).
Subtask 32-21-16-860-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
- on the panel 40VU in the cockpit,
- on the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, access door (197CB).
(4) Obey the applicable safety precautions before you open the LGCIU circuits breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).
C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001)
(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
(3) Lift the aircraft with jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
Subtask 32-21-16-941-057-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.

(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.

(3) Lift the aircraft with jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).

- on the panel 40VU in the cockpit,
- on the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system, access door (196BB).
(4) Obey the applicable safety precautions before you open the LGCIU circuits breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

F. Get Access
(1) Open the doors of the nose landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 123.

Subtask 32-21-16-020-055-A
A. Removal of the NLG Drag Strut Assy
(1) Use a SCRAPER to remove the protective sealant from the parts to be removed.
(2) Remove the lock-stay assy (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-17-000-001).
(3) Install the attach bar of the 98D32203500000 TOOL-R I NLG.
(4) Install the M21931 HOISTING DEVICE and attach a HOIST 500 KG (1100 LB).
(5) Remove the drag strut as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (4), remove the nut (3), the washer (2) and the bolt (6).
(b) Remove the ring (5).
(d) Put a BLOCK-INCLINED below the nose landing gear wheels to keep the nose landing gear leg in position.
(e) Remove and discard the cotter pins (18), remove the nuts (17) and the washers (16).
(f) Remove the bolts (13).
(g) Remove the lubrication inserts (11), the bushes (10) and the trunnion pins (15) with the J47562-1000 EXTRACTOR.
(h) Remove the washers (21).
(i) Release the drag strut (7) from the spherical bearings and remove it.
(6) Remove the M21931 HOISTING DEVICE.
(1) Use a SCRAPER to remove the protective sealant from the parts to be removed.
(2) Remove the lock-stay assy (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-17-000-001).
(3) Install the attach bar of the 98D32203500000 TOOL-R I NLG.
(4) Install the M21931 HOISTING DEVICE and attach a HOIST 500 KG (1100 LB).
(5) Remove the drag strut as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (4), remove the nut (3), the washer (2) and the bolt (6).
(b) Remove the ring (5).
CAUTION:
PUSH THE NOSE GEAR LEG TO THE FRONT TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ROTATING CONTROL RODS OF THE REAR NOSE LANDING GEAR DOORS.
(c) Remove the pin (1) with the J47555 EXTRACTOR. (d) Put a BLOCK-INCLINED below the nose landing gear wheels to keep the nose landing gear leg in position.
(e) Remove and discard the cotter pins (18), remove the nuts (17) and the washers (16).
(f) Remove the bolts (13).
(g) Remove the lubrication inserts (11), the bushes (10) and the trunnion pins (15) with the J47562-1000 EXTRACTOR.
(h) Remove the washers (21).
(i) Release the drag strut (7) from the spherical bearings and remove it.
(6) Remove the M21931 HOISTING DEVICE.
