Subtask 32-21-16-860-053-A

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(3) Lift the aircraft with jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).

B. Safety Precautions
(1) In the cockpit, on the right center instrument panel 400VU, put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
(2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not pressurize the Green hydraulic system:

In the cockpit, on the HYD panel 40VU
In the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, at access door 197CB.

(3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(4) Obey the applicable safety precautions before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 123.

(1) Measure dimension K.
(2) Record the number of adjustment washers (27) on the roller right side.
(3) Record the number of adjustment washers (32) on the roller left side.
(4) Record the position of the locating marks (46) relative to the locating groove (45) of the retaining plate (20).

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-16-020-056-A

A. Removal of the NLG Drag-Strut Assy
(1) Use a SCRAPER to remove the protective sealant from the parts to be removed.
(2) Remove the NLG lockstay assy (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-17-000-001).
(3) Install the attachment bar of the 98D32203500000 TOOL-R I NLG.
(4) Install the M21931 HOISTING DEVICE and attach a HOIST 500 KG (1100 LB).
(5) Remove the drag strut as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (4).
(b) Remove the nut (3), washer (2) and bolt (6).
(c) Removal of the ring (5)

CAUTION: PUSH THE NOSE GEAR LEG TO THE FRONT TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ROTATING CONTROL RODS OF THE REAR NOSE LANDING GEAR DOORS.

1 Remove the ring (5).
(d) Remove the pin (1) with the J47555 EXTRACTOR.
(e) Put an BLOCK-INCLINED below NLG wheels to keep the NLG leg in position.
(6) Remove the forestay.
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (19).
(b) Remove the nut (18) and washer (17).
(c) Remove the bolts (11).
(d) Remove the lubrication inserts (9), bushes (8) and trunnion pins (16) with the J47562-1000 EXTRACTOR.
(e) Remove the two adjustment washers (12) or (13) or (14) or (15) on each side of the drag strut.
(f) Release the drag strut (7) from the spherical bearings and remove it.
(7) Remove the M21931 HOISTING DEVICE.
