3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-11-16-941-052-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the ground service connection to tell persons not to pressurize:
  • The Green hydraulic system
  • The Yellow hydraulic system.
   (4) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the power transfer unit (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (3) Depressurize the applicable hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

C. Lift the Aircraft
   (1) Lift the aircraft on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).

D. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
   (2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

F. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 731 (741).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below zone 571 (671).
   (3) Remove the cover plates (65) and (66) as follows:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (71) and (72).
     (b) Remove the nuts (69) and (70), the bridge plates (67) and (68) and the cover plates (65) and (66).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-11-16-020-052-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the MLG Side-Stay Assembly
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector of the cable (8) from the proximity sensor (2).
   (2) Remove the bolts (12), the washers (11) and the clips (10) from the bracket (9).
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Disconnect the hydraulic hoses (37) and (38) as follows:
WARNING: DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
  • FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
  • GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
     (a) Put the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the hose unions (32) and (43) and the hoses (37) and (38).
     (b) Disconnect the hose unions (32) and (43) from the hoses (37) and (38).
     (c) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the nuts (39), (42), (36) and (33).
     (d) Remove the nuts (33) and (42) and the washers (34) and (41).
     (e) Remove the hoses (37) and (38) from the bracket assembly.
     (f) Remove the washers (35) and (40) from the hoses (37) and (38).
     (g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (5) Disconnect the locksprings at their top attachment (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
   (6) Install the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY on the side-stay assembly (3) with:
  • The cables to the side-stay splint assembly
  • The strap to the side-stay splint assembly
  • The center joint of the side-stay located in the center hole of the side-stay splint assembly.
   (7) Tighten the strap and connect the cables to the hook.
   (8) Remove the cotter pin (15), the nut (14) and the washer (16). Discard the cotter pin (15).
   (9) Hold the lockstay (17) (which weighs 3.4 kg (7.50 lb)) and remove the pin (19) and the washer (18).
   (10) Carefully disengage the lockstay (17) from the cardan joint and collect the spacers (13).
   (11) Compress the lockstay actuator to fold the lockstay and safety the lockstay in this position.
   (12) Remove and discard the cotter pin (24).
   (13) Remove the nut (25), the washer (26), the bolt (20) and the end caps (21) and (23).
   (14) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (22).
   (15) Disconnect the lower cardan sub-assembly from the lower side-stay assembly (3) and remove the washers (44).
   (16) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolt (27).
   (17) Remove the bolt (27) and the washer (28).
   (18) Remove the lock washer (29) from the nut (30).
NOTE: It is recommended to use the plastic tools to remove the washer (28) and the lock washer (29) to prevent damage.
   (19) Use the 460007272 SPANNER-TUBE and remove the nut (30) from the cardan pin (31).
   (20) Remove the cardan pin (31) from the MLG leg assy.
   (21) Loosely engage the cardan pin (31) to the lower side-stay (3) with:
  • The washers (44)
  • The pin (22)
  • The end caps (21) and (23)
  • The bolt (20)
  • The washer (26)
  • The nut (25).
     (a) Do not install the cotter pin (24).
   (22) Make sure that all the related parts are clean before you remove the circlip (7). Remove the circlip (7) as follows:
     (a) Use an applicable tool to release the tail of the circlip (7) from the key slot of the lock washer (6).
     (b) Hold the tail of the circlip (7) with a pair of PLIERS - CIRCLIP.
     (c) Carefully pull the circlip (7) in a clockwise direction until it releases from the chamfered slot in the nut (5).
   (23) Remove the lock washer (6) from the nut (5).
   (24) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and remove the nut (5), and the washer (4) from the cardan pin (1).
NOTE: It is recommended to use the plastic tools to remove the washer (4) and the lock washer (6) to prevent damage.
   (25) Move the side-stay until the cardan pin (1) comes out of the side-stay bracket. Tighten the strap to prevent movement of the side-stay assembly (3).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE MLG SIDE-STAY. IT WEIGHS 62.5kg (137.5lb).
     (a) Lower the side-stay assembly (3) on to a TRESTLE - PADDED and remove the cables from the hook.
   (26) If it is necessary to replace the side-stay assembly (3), then remove the side-stay splint assembly.
   (27) Remove the seal (54) from the bush (53). Discard the seal (54).
Subtask 32-11-16-020-052-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the MLG Side-Stay Assembly
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector of the cable (8) from the proximity sensor (2).
   (2) Remove the bolts (12), the washers (11) and the clips (10) from the bracket (9).
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Disconnect the hydraulic hoses (35) and (36) as follows:
WARNING: DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
  • FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
  • GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
     (a) Put the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the hose unions (30) and (41) and the hoses (35) and (36).
     (b) Disconnect the hose unions (30) and (41) from the hoses (35) and (36).
     (c) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the nuts (37), (40), (34) and (31).
     (d) Remove the nuts (31) and (40) and the washers (32) and (39).
     (e) Remove the hoses (35) and (36) from the bracket assembly.
     (f) Remove the washers (33) and (38) from the hoses (35) and (36).
     (g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (5) Disconnect the locksprings at their top attachment (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
   (6) Install the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) on the side-stay assembly (3) with:
  • The cables to the side-stay splint assembly
  • The strap to the side-stay splint assembly
  • The center joint of the side-stay located in the center hole of the side-stay splint assembly.
   (7) Tighten the strap and connect the cables to the hook.
   (8) Remove the cotter pin (15), the nut (14) and the washer (16). Discard the cotter pin (15).
   (9) Hold the lockstay (17) (which weighs 3.4 kg (7.50 lb)) and remove the pin (19) and the washer (18).
   (10) Carefully disengage the lockstay (17) from the cardan joint and collect the spacers (13).
   (11) Compress the lockstay actuator to fold the lockstay and safety the lockstay in this position.
   (12) Unlock the tab washer (21).
   (13) Use the 460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING to hold the end cap (24) and remove the bolt (20), the tab washer (21) and the end caps (22) and (24).
   (14) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (23).
   (15) Disconnect the lower cardan sub-assembly from the lower side-stay assembly (3) and remove the washers (42).
   (16) Make sure that all the related parts are clean before you remove the circlip (25). Remove the circlip (25) as follows:
     (a) Use an applicable tool to release the tail of the circlip (25) from the key slot of the lock washer (26).
     (b) Hold the tail of the circlip (25) with a pair of PLIERS - CIRCLIP.
     (c) Carefully pull the circlip (25) in a clockwise direction until it releases from the chamfered slot in the nut (27).
   (17) Remove the lock washer (26) from the nut (27).
   (18) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and remove the nut (27), and the washer (28) from the cardan pin (29).
NOTE: It is recommended to use the plastic tools to remove the washer (28) and the lock washer (26) to prevent damage.
   (19) Remove the cardan pin (29) from the MLG leg assembly.
   (20) Loosely engage the cardan pin (29) to the lower side-stay (3) with:
  • The washers (42)
  • The pin (23)
  • The end caps (22) and (24)
  • The tab washer (21)
  • The bolt (20).
     (a) Do not lock the tab washer (21).
   (21) Make sure that all the related parts are clean before you remove the circlip (7). Remove the circlip (7) as follows:
     (a) Use an applicable tool to release the tail of the circlip (7) from the key slot of the lock washer (6).
     (b) Hold the tail of the circlip (7) with a pair of PLIERS - CIRCLIP.
     (c) Carefully pull the circlip (7) in a clockwise direction until it releases from the chamfered slot in the nut (5).
   (22) Remove the lock washer (6) from the nut (5).
   (23) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and remove the nut (5), and the washer (4) from the cardan pin (1).
NOTE: It is recommended to use the plastic tools to remove the washer (4) and the lock washer (6) to prevent damage.
   (24) Move the side-stay until the cardan pin (1) comes out of the side-stay bracket. Tighten the strap to prevent movement of the side-stay assembly (3).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE MLG SIDE-STAY. IT WEIGHS 62.5kg (137.5lb).
     (a) Lower the side-stay assembly (3) on to a TRESTLE - PADDED and remove the cables from the hook.
   (25) If it is necessary to replace the side-stay assembly (3), then remove the side-stay splint assembly.
   (26) Remove the seal (54) from the bush (53). Discard the seal (54).
Subtask 32-11-16-020-052-I ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the MLG Side-Stay Assembly
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector of the cable (8) from the proximity sensor (2).
   (2) Remove the bolts (12), the washers (11) and the clips (10) from the bracket (9).
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Disconnect the hydraulic hoses (35) and (36) as follows:
WARNING: DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
  • FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
  • GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
     (a) Put the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the hose unions (30) and (41) and the hoses (35) and (36).
     (b) Disconnect the hose unions (30) and (41) from the hoses (35) and (36).
     (c) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the nuts (37), (40), (34) and (31).
     (d) Remove the nuts (31) and (40) and the washers (32) and (39).
     (e) Remove the hoses (35) and (36) from the bracket assembly.
     (f) Remove the washers (33) and (38) from the hoses (35) and (36).
     (g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (5) Disconnect the locksprings at their top attachment (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
   (6) Install the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) on the side-stay assembly (3) with:
  • The cables to the side-stay splint assembly
  • The strap to the side-stay splint assembly
  • The center joint of the side-stay located in the center hole of the side-stay splint assembly.
   (7) Tighten the strap and connect the cables to the hook.
   (8) Remove the cotter pin (15), the nut (14) and the washer (16). Discard the cotter pin (15).
   (9) Hold the lockstay (17) (which weighs 3.4 kg (7.50 lb)) and remove the pin (19) and the washer (18).
   (10) Carefully disengage the lockstay (17) from the cardan joint and collect the spacers (13).
   (11) Compress the lockstay actuator to fold the lockstay and safety the lockstay in this position.
   (12) Remove and discard the cotter pin (45).
   (13) Remove the nut (44), the washer (43), the bolt (20) and the end-caps (22) and (24).
   (14) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (23).
   (15) Disconnect the lower cardan sub-assembly from the lower side-stay assembly (3) and remove the washers (42).
   (16) Make sure that all the related parts are clean before you remove the circlip (25). Remove the circlip (25) as follows:
     (a) Use an applicable tool to release the tail of the circlip (25) from the key slot of the lock washer (26).
     (b) Hold the tail of the circlip (25) with a pair of PLIERS - CIRCLIP.
     (c) Carefully pull the circlip (25) in a clockwise direction until it releases from the chamfered slot in the nut (27).
   (17) Remove the lock washer (26) from the nut (27).
   (18) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and remove the nut (27), and the washer (28) from the cardan pin (29).
NOTE: It is recommended to use the plastic tools to remove the washer (28) and the lock washer (26) to prevent damage.
   (19) Remove the cardan pin (29) from the MLG leg assembly.
   (20) Loosely engage the cardan pin (29) to the lower side-stay (3) with:
  • The washers (42)
  • The pin (23)
  • The end caps (22) and (24)
  • The bolt (20)
  • The washer (43)
  • The nut (44).
     (a) You must not install the cotter pin (45) at this time.
   (21) Make sure that all the related parts are clean before you remove the circlip (7). Remove the circlip (7) as follows:
     (a) Use an applicable tool to release the tail of the circlip (7) from the key slot of the lock washer (6).
     (b) Hold the tail of the circlip (7) with a pair of PLIERS - CIRCLIP.
     (c) Carefully pull the circlip (7) in a clockwise direction until it releases from the chamfered slot in the nut (5).
   (22) Remove the lock washer (6) from the nut (5).
   (23) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and remove the nut (5), and the washer (4) from the cardan pin (1).
NOTE: It is recommended to use the plastic tools to remove the washer (4) and the lock washer (6) to prevent damage.
   (24) Move the side-stay until the cardan pin (1) comes out of the side-stay bracket. Tighten the strap to prevent movement of the side-stay assembly (3).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE MLG SIDE-STAY. IT WEIGHS 62.5kg (137.5lb).
     (a) Lower the side-stay assembly (3) on to a TRESTLE - PADDED and remove the cables from the hook.
   (25) If it is necessary to replace the side-stay assembly (3), then remove the side-stay splint assembly.
   (26) Remove the seal (54) from the bush (53). Discard the seal (54).
