Removal of the MLG Side Stay Assembly - Post-EV MLG

WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THIS EQUIPMENT. THIS EQUIPMENT IS HEAVY (MORE THAN 12 KG (26.5 lb)) AND CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

Subtask 32-11-16-941-055-A
A. Safety Precautions
(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the ground service connection to tell persons not to pressurize:
(a) Make sure that the landing gear control-lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
Subtask 32-11-16-860-055-A (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the ground service connection to tell persons not to pressurize:
- The Green hydraulic system
- The Yellow hydraulic system.
(a) Make sure that the landing gear control-lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the power transfer unit (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Depressurize the applicable hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
Subtask 32-11-16-582-051-A Subtask 32-11-16-869-057-A (1) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the power transfer unit (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Depressurize the applicable hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
D. Flight Configuration Precautions
(1) Do one of the two steps that follow:
(a) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks:

(a) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks:
- De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
NOTE: It is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(b) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001). E. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

F. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 731 (741).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below zone 571 (671).
(3) Remove the cover plates (61) and (62) as follows:
(b) Remove the nuts (65) and (66), the bridge plates (63) and (64) and the cover plates (61) and (62).
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 731 (741).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below zone 571 (671).
(3) Remove the cover plates (61) and (62) as follows:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (67) and (68).(b) Remove the nuts (65) and (66), the bridge plates (63) and (64) and the cover plates (61) and (62).
Subtask 32-11-16-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the MLG Side Stay Assembly
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Remove the bolts (12), the P-clips (11) and the washers (9) from the bracket (10).
(5) Disconnect the 1M harness (8) from the bracket (10).
(6) Disconnect the flexible hoses (38) and (39) as follows:
(b) Disconnect the hose unions (33) and (44) from the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
(c) Cut, remove and discard the lockwires from the nuts (40), (43), (37) and (34).
(d) Remove the nuts (34) and (43) and the washers (35) and (42).
(e) Remove the flexible hoses (38) and (39) from the bracket.
(f) Remove the washers (36) and (41) from the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
(g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(7) Disconnect the MLG lock springs from the MLG side stay (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
(8) Install the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY on the side stay assembly (3) with:
(10) Remove the cotter pin (19), the nut (18) and the washer (17).
(11) Remove and discard the cotter pin (19) and the nut (18).
(12) Hold the lockstay and remove the pin (14) and the washer (15).
(13) Carefully disengage the lockstay eye-end (16) from the cardan joint and collect the spacers (13).
(14) Compress the lockstay actuator to fold the lockstay and safety the lockstay in this position.
(15) Remove and discard the cotter pin (25).
(16) Remove the nut (26) and the washer (24) from the bolt (20).
(17) Hold the end-cap (23) with the 460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING and remove the bolt (20).
(18) Remove the end-caps (21) and (23).
(19) Hold the side stay assembly (3) in position.
(20) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (22).
(21) Disconnect the lower cardan sub-assembly from the side stay assembly (3) and remove the washers (27).
(22) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (32).
(23) Remove the bolts (32) and the washers (31).
(24) Remove the lock washer (30) from the nut (29).
(26) Remove the cardan pin (28) from the MLG leg assembly.
(27) Loosely engage the cardan pin (28) to the side stay assembly (3) with:
(28) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (7).
(29) Remove the bolts (7) and the washers (6).
(30) Remove the lock washer (5) from the nut (4).
(32) Move the side stay assembly (3) until the cardan pin (1) comes out of the side stay bracket. Tighten the strap to prevent movement of the side stay assembly (3).
(a) Lower the side stay assembly (3) on to the TRESTLE - PADDED and remove the cables from the hook.
(33) If it is necessary to replace the side stay assembly (3):
Subtask 32-11-16-020-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(1) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealants from:- The head of the pin (14)
- The heads of the bolts (7), (12) and (32)
- The nuts (18) and (29)
- The washers (6), (9), (17) and (31)
- The lock washer (5).
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Remove the bolts (12), the P-clips (11) and the washers (9) from the bracket (10).
(5) Disconnect the 1M harness (8) from the bracket (10).
(6) Disconnect the flexible hoses (38) and (39) as follows:
WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
- FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
- GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
(a) Put the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the hose unions (33) and (44) and the flexible hoses (38) and (39). (b) Disconnect the hose unions (33) and (44) from the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
(c) Cut, remove and discard the lockwires from the nuts (40), (43), (37) and (34).
(d) Remove the nuts (34) and (43) and the washers (35) and (42).
(e) Remove the flexible hoses (38) and (39) from the bracket.
(f) Remove the washers (36) and (41) from the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
(g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(7) Disconnect the MLG lock springs from the MLG side stay (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
(8) Install the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY on the side stay assembly (3) with:
- The cables to the side stay splint-assembly
- The strap to the side stay splint-assembly
- The center joint of the side stay in the center hole of the side stay splint-assembly.
(10) Remove the cotter pin (19), the nut (18) and the washer (17).
(11) Remove and discard the cotter pin (19) and the nut (18).
(12) Hold the lockstay and remove the pin (14) and the washer (15).
(13) Carefully disengage the lockstay eye-end (16) from the cardan joint and collect the spacers (13).
(14) Compress the lockstay actuator to fold the lockstay and safety the lockstay in this position.
(15) Remove and discard the cotter pin (25).
(16) Remove the nut (26) and the washer (24) from the bolt (20).
(17) Hold the end-cap (23) with the 460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING and remove the bolt (20).
(18) Remove the end-caps (21) and (23).
(19) Hold the side stay assembly (3) in position.
(20) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (22).
(21) Disconnect the lower cardan sub-assembly from the side stay assembly (3) and remove the washers (27).
(22) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (32).
(23) Remove the bolts (32) and the washers (31).
(24) Remove the lock washer (30) from the nut (29).
NOTE: It is recommended to use plastic tools to remove the washers (31) and the lock washer (30) to prevent damage.
(25) Use the DRT69678 LWR CARDAN SKT and remove the nut (29) from the cardan pin (28). (26) Remove the cardan pin (28) from the MLG leg assembly.
(27) Loosely engage the cardan pin (28) to the side stay assembly (3) with:
- The washers (27)
- The pin (22)
- The end caps (21) and (23)
- The bolt (20)
- The washer (24)
- The nut (26).
(28) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (7).
(29) Remove the bolts (7) and the washers (6).
(30) Remove the lock washer (5) from the nut (4).
NOTE: It is recommended to use plastic tools to remove the washers (6) and the lock washer (5) to prevent damage.
(31) Use the DRT69679 UPPER CARDAN SOCKET and remove the nut (4) from the cardan pin (1). (32) Move the side stay assembly (3) until the cardan pin (1) comes out of the side stay bracket. Tighten the strap to prevent movement of the side stay assembly (3).
(a) Lower the side stay assembly (3) on to the TRESTLE - PADDED and remove the cables from the hook.
(33) If it is necessary to replace the side stay assembly (3):
- Remove the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY.
A. Removal of the MLG Side Stay Assembly
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Remove the bolts (12), the P-clips (11) and the washers (9) from the bracket (10).
(5) Disconnect the 1M harness (8) from the bracket (10).
(6) Disconnect the flexible hoses (38) and (39) as follows:
(b) Disconnect the hose unions (33) and (44) from the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
(c) Cut, remove and discard the lockwires from the nuts (40), (43), (37) and (34).
(d) Remove the nuts (34) and (43) and the washers (35) and (42).
(e) Remove the flexible hoses (38) and (39) from the bracket.
(f) Remove the washers (36) and (41) from the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
(g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(7) Disconnect the MLG lock springs from MLG side stay (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
(8) Install the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY or the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013002 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (B) on the side stay assembly (3) with:
(10) Remove the cotter pin (19), the nut (18) and the washer (17).
(11) Remove and discard the cotter pin (19) and the nut (18).
(12) Hold the lockstay and remove the pin (14) and the washer (15).
(13) Carefully disengage the lockstay eye-end (16) from the cardan joint and collect the spacers (13).
(14) Compress the lockstay actuator to fold the lockstay and safety the lockstay in this position.
(15) Remove and discard the cotter pin (25).
(16) Remove the nut (26) and the washer (24) from the bolt (20).
(17) Hold the end-cap (23) with the 460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING and remove the bolt (20).
(18) Remove the end caps (21) and (23).
(19) Hold the side stay assembly (3) in position.
(20) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (22).
(21) Disconnect the lower cardan sub-assembly from the side stay assembly (3) and remove the washers (27).
(22) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (32).
(23) Remove the bolts (32) and the washers (31).
(24) Remove the lock washer (30) from the nut (29).
(26) Remove the cardan pin (28) from the MLG leg assembly.
(27) Loosely engage the cardan pin (28) to the side stay assembly (3) with:
(28) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (7).
(29) Remove the bolts (7) and the washers (6).
(30) Remove the lock washer (5) from the nut (4).
(32) Move the side stay assembly (3) until the cardan pin (1) comes out of the side stay bracket. Tighten the strap to prevent movement of the side stay assembly (3).
(a) Lower the side stay assembly (3) on to the TRESTLE - PADDED and remove the cables from the hook.
(33) If it is necessary to replace the side stay assembly (3):
WARNING:

WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(1) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealants from:- The head of the pin (14)
- The heads of the bolts (7), (12) and (32)
- The nuts (18) and (29)
- The washers (6), (9), (17) and (31)
- The lock washer (5).
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Remove the bolts (12), the P-clips (11) and the washers (9) from the bracket (10).
(5) Disconnect the 1M harness (8) from the bracket (10).
(6) Disconnect the flexible hoses (38) and (39) as follows:
WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
- FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
- GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
(a) Put the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) below the hose unions (33) and (44) and the flexible hoses (38) and (39). (b) Disconnect the hose unions (33) and (44) from the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
(c) Cut, remove and discard the lockwires from the nuts (40), (43), (37) and (34).
(d) Remove the nuts (34) and (43) and the washers (35) and (42).
(e) Remove the flexible hoses (38) and (39) from the bracket.
(f) Remove the washers (36) and (41) from the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
(g) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(7) Disconnect the MLG lock springs from MLG side stay (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-000-003).
(8) Install the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY or the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013002 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (B) on the side stay assembly (3) with:
- The cables to the side stay splint-assembly
- The strap to the side stay splint-assembly
- The center joint of the side stay located in the center hole of the side stay splint-assembly.
(10) Remove the cotter pin (19), the nut (18) and the washer (17).
(11) Remove and discard the cotter pin (19) and the nut (18).
(12) Hold the lockstay and remove the pin (14) and the washer (15).
(13) Carefully disengage the lockstay eye-end (16) from the cardan joint and collect the spacers (13).
(14) Compress the lockstay actuator to fold the lockstay and safety the lockstay in this position.
(15) Remove and discard the cotter pin (25).
(16) Remove the nut (26) and the washer (24) from the bolt (20).
(17) Hold the end-cap (23) with the 460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING and remove the bolt (20).
(18) Remove the end caps (21) and (23).
(19) Hold the side stay assembly (3) in position.
(20) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (22).
(21) Disconnect the lower cardan sub-assembly from the side stay assembly (3) and remove the washers (27).
(22) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (32).
(23) Remove the bolts (32) and the washers (31).
(24) Remove the lock washer (30) from the nut (29).
NOTE: It is recommended to use plastic tools to remove the washers (31) and the lock washer (30) to prevent damage.
(25) Use the DRT69680 LWR CARDAN SKT and remove the nut (29) from the cardan pin (28). (26) Remove the cardan pin (28) from the MLG leg assembly.
(27) Loosely engage the cardan pin (28) to the side stay assembly (3) with:
- The washers (27)
- The pin (22)
- The end caps (21) and (23)
- The bolt (20)
- The washer (24)
- The nut (26).
(28) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (7).
(29) Remove the bolts (7) and the washers (6).
(30) Remove the lock washer (5) from the nut (4).
NOTE: It is recommended to use plastic tools to remove the washers (6) and the lock washer (5) to prevent damage.
(31) Use the DRT69681 UPPER CARDAN SKT and remove the nut (4) from the cardan pin (1). (32) Move the side stay assembly (3) until the cardan pin (1) comes out of the side stay bracket. Tighten the strap to prevent movement of the side stay assembly (3).
(a) Lower the side stay assembly (3) on to the TRESTLE - PADDED and remove the cables from the hook.
(33) If it is necessary to replace the side stay assembly (3):
