A. Set the ECAM and the EFIS control panels to the correct configuration:
   (1) On the CAPT and F/O lighting/loud speaker control panels (301VU and 500VU) on the left and right sides of the instrument panels:
  • Turn the PFD and ND potentiometers to the BRT position (maximum brightness).

  • Turn the UPPER DISPLAY and LOWER DISPLAY potentiometers to the BRT position (maximum brightness).

Subtask 31-63-22-740-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Get access to DISPLAY TEST 2
NOTE: With DMC1, you control the CAPT PFD, the CAPT ND, the upper and lower ECAM DUs.
With DMC2, you control the F/O PFD and F/O ND.
If DMC1 (DMC2) is unserviceable, you can use DMC3.
To use DMC3:
  • On SWITCHING panel 8VU, set the EIS DMC selector switch to CAPT/3 (F/O/3).
ACTION
RESULT
On the MCDU:
On the MCDU:
1.Push the line key adjacent to the EIS1 (EIS2) indication.
  • The DMC1 (DMC2) page comes into view.
2.Push the line key adjacent to the PIN PROG/STATUS AND XLOAD indication.
  • The DMC1 PIN PROG/STATUS AND XLOAD (DMC2 PIN PROG/STATUS AND XLOAD) page comes into view.
3.Push the line key adjacent to the LCD STATUS indication.
  • The DMC1 LCD STATUS (DMC2 LCD STATUS) page comes into view.
4.Push the line key adjacent to the DISPLAY TEST 2 indication.
  • The DISPLAY TEST 2 IN PROGRESS indication comes into view.

C. Do a visual check of each DU for:
  • A white or black line
  • A white or black column
  • Pixels that are failed-on or failed-off.
NOTE: A failed-on pixel is a pixel which is always on. A failed-off pixel is a pixel which is always off.
NOTE: On the test pattern, there are black squares to find failed-on pixels and white squares to find failed-off pixels.
   (1) On the CAPT PFD (F/O PFD), count and record the pixels that are defective:
  • Number of failed-on pixels
  • Number of failed-off pixels
  • Number of adjacent failed-on pixels
  • Number of sets of two adjacent failed-off pixels
  • Number of sets of more than two adjacent failed-off pixels.
   (2) Do Step C. again on the CAPT ND, on the upper and lower ECAM DUs (F/O ND).

F. For each DU, replace the related DU (Ref. AMM TASK 31-63-22-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 31-63-22-400-001) if the recorded defective pixels do not agree with these conditions:
  • There must not be more than 30 defective pixels.
  • There must not be more than eight failed-on pixels.
  • The number of failed-on pixels (not more than eight) + the number of failed-off pixels must not be more than 30 pixels.
  • There must not be two adjacent failed-on pixels.
  • There must not be more than four sets of two adjacent failed-off pixels.
