Subtask 31-63-22-710-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Set the ECAM and the EFIS controls to the correct configuration:
   (1) On CAPT and F/O LIGHTING/LOUD SPEAKER control panels (301VU and 500VU) at the left and right of the instrument panels:
  • turn the PFD and ND potentiometers to the full BRT position (maximum brightness).
   (2) On the center pedestal, on the ECAM control panel:
  • turn the UPPER DISPLAY and LOWER DISPLAY potentiometers to the full BRT position (maximum brightness).

Subtask 31-63-22-710-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Get the Maintenance Pattern on the DUs
   (1) With DMC1 control (CAPT PFD, CAPT ND and upper ECAM DU)
NOTE: If the DMC1 is unserviceable, you can use the DMC3.
To use the DMC3:
  • on the SWITCHING panel (8VU):
. set the EIS DMC selector switch to CAPT/3.
     (a) On the MCDU, get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST/INST page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-008).
     (b) On this page, push the line key (2R) adjacent to the EIS1 indication.
     (c) The EIS (DMC1) page comes into view. On this page, push the line key (4R) adjacent to the TEST indication. The EIS (DMC1) TEST page comes into view. On this page, push the line key (2L) adjacent to the DISPLAY TEST indication.
     (d) DISPLAY TEST IN PROGRESS comes into view. The maintenance pattern comes into view on the related DUs: CAPT PFD, CAPT ND and upper ECAM DU.
NOTE: The maintenance pattern is divided into squares that show the three colors.
   (2) With DMC2 control (F/O PFD, F/O ND and lower ECAM DU)
NOTE: If the DMC2 is unserviceable, you can use the DMC3.
To use the DMC3:
  • on the SWITCHING panel (8VU):
. set the EIS DMC selector switch to F/O/3.
     (a) On the MCDU, get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST/INST page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-008).
     (b) On this page, push the line key (3R) adjacent to the EIS2 indication.
     (c) The EIS (DMC2) page comes into view. On this page, push the line key (4R) adjacent to the TEST indication. The EIS (DMC2) TEST page comes into view. On this page, push the line key (2L) adjacent to the DISPLAY TEST indication.
     (d) DISPLAY TEST IN PROGRESS comes into view. The maintenance pattern comes into view on the related DUs: F/O PFD, F/O ND and lower ECAM DU.
NOTE: The maintenance pattern is divided into squares that show the three colors.
Subtask 31-63-22-280-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Measure the intensity level of the green color for the related Display Units (DU) (CAPT PFD, CAPT ND and upper ECAM DU or F/O PFD, F/O ND and lower ECAM DU) and use the measurement chart as follows:
NOTE: For luminance meter F1395993, the K coefficient is written on the luminance meter.
For the luminance meter LS series, use default K coefficient 1.018.
NOTE: The K coefficient is the Color Correction Factor (CCF).
F Brightness Measurement Chart ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) On the measurement chart, write:
  • The Part Number (P/N) shown on the DU
  • The DU position (CAPT PFD, CAPT ND, F/O PFD, F/O ND, upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU).
     (a) Get the DU P/Ns from the MCDU:
1 Do the procedure to get access to the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST INST:DISPLAY page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-008).
NOTE: The steps and the results of this procedure are shown on the MCDU that you use.
ACTION
RESULT
1. Push the line select key adjacent to the EIS1 (2 or 3) indication.
- The DMC1 (2 or 3) menu page comes into view.
2. Push the line select key adjacent to the LRU IDENT indication.
- The LRU IDENTIFICATION page comes into view.
   (2) Put a black masking tape on the two light sensors on the face of the DU.
   (3) Measure the intensity level of the green color for the related DU with the luminance meter:
     (a) Put the focal-plane indication of the luminance meter at approximately 21 cm (8.26 in.) from the face of the DU. Make sure that the green color fills the visual field (and not only the internal circle) of the luminance meter.
     (b) Push the start switch on the luminance meter to keep the value shown and then write this value on the measurement chart.
Subtask 31-63-22-710-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. At the end of the measurement, push the MCDU line key (6L), adjacent to the RETURN indication, four times to return to the MCDU main menu.
   (1) Set the ECAM and the EFIS controls to the usual configuration and decrease the DU brightness as follows:
  • On the SWITCHING panel (8VU):
. set the EIS DMC selector switch to NORM.
  • On CAPT and F/O LIGHTING/LOUD SPEAKER control panels:
. set the PFD and ND potentiometers to the minimum brightness position.
  • On the ECAM control panel:
. set the UPPER DISPLAY and LOWER DISPLAY potentiometers to the minimum brightness position.
   (2) All the DUs return to their initial configuration.
5. Close-up

A. Result Analysis
If LUM: VC > X Cd/m2
No task is necessary
If X > LUM: VC > Y
Remove the DU at the next 1200 FH or 12-month
check (the one that occurs first).
Then adjust it in the workshop.
If LUM: VC < Y
Remove the DU. Then adjust it in the workshop.
NOTE: The values given are minimum values. You can use higher values if necessary for your maintenance and flight operations personnel.
Cd/m2 = candela per square meter
V = measured value
Vc = corrected value
X, Y = thresholds to compare with the measured values
