3. Job Set-up
Subtask 31-36-00-860-147-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Do the printout of the engine and APU hours and cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 31-36-00-740-015).
NOTE: The software load can erase the data of the engine and APU hours and cycles stored in the FDIMU.
The printout gives a hard copy of this data. Use the printout as a reference to correct the engine and APU hours and cycles later, if necessary.
All modifications done before through the MCDU programming menu can be lost after the software loading. Reports counters will be also reinitialized.
   (3) Make sure that the aircraft is in Ground configuration (Landing Gear compressed and all Engines stopped).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open access door 824, in order to get access to the avionics compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002).

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the front panel of the FDIMU, open the access door to get access to the OPERATIONAL/STORAGE switch.
   (2) Make sure that the OPERATIONAL/STORAGE switch is in the 'ON' position.
NOTE: The switch activates the battery backup buffering of all internal AIDS data stored in the volatile memory in case of external power shut-down.
   (3) On the YV68A110 PORTABLE DATA LOADER, make sure that the 'ON/OFF' switch is in 'OFF' position.
   (4) Connect the adapter cable to the FDIMU front connector.
   (5) Connect the adapter cable to the YV68A110 PORTABLE DATA LOADER interface.
   (6) Make sure that the subsequent disks are in the write-protected status (write-protection ON): [10TV2] [10TV3]
NOTE: The number of disks can be different, related to the software version.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

   (2) On the 2231560-1-B PORTABLE DATA LOADER, make sure that the 'ON/OFF' switch is in 'OFF' position.
   (3) Connect the 2243942-1 Adapter Cable to the front connector of the FDIMU.
   (4) Connect the 2243942-1 Adapter Cable to the 2231560-1-B PORTABLE DATA LOADER interface.
   (5) Make sure that the subsequent disk is in the write-protected status (write-protection ON): [10TV2]
NOTE: The number of disks can be different, related to the software version.

A. System Software Load Procedure

On the Portable Data Loader (PDL) interface:
On the PDL display:
  • Put the 'ON/OFF' switch to the 'ON' position.
  • The Software Loading in Progress.
  • Put the [10TV2] into the PDL disk drive.
NOTE: Each software version has a specified number of disks. It is necessary to load all disks until the loading process is completed.
  • The subsequent messages come into view:
    READY
    WAIT RESPONSE
    TRANSF IN PROG.

NOTE: Some PDLs show the BUS-number and the file-sizes between the messages TRANSF IN PROG and TRANSF COMPLETE. The file-sizes decrease to zero during the data loading. This shows the progress of the data loading.

  • Wait until the TRANSF COMPLETE indication comes into view.
  • TRANSF COMPLETE comes into view after the load procedure is completed correctly.
  • Push the EJECT button and remove the [10TV2] .

  • Put the 'ON/OFF' switch to the 'OFF' position.

On the MCDU front panel:
On the MCDU display:
  • Push the MCDU MENU mode key.
  • The MCDU menu comes into view.
