NOTE: The Procedure is valid for the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) and Solid State Flight Data Recorder (SSFDR).
Subtask 31-33-55-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at access door 312AR.
(4) Make sure that access door 312AR is open.
(5) Make sure that light switch 3LJ is set to the ON position.

(4) Make sure that access door 312AR is open.
(5) Make sure that light switch 3LJ is set to the ON position.

A. Installation of the DFDR
Removal/Installation of the DFDR ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Make sure that the underwater locator beacon is correctly installed.
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connector(s) (5).
(5) Install carefully the DFDR (1) into the mounting tray (4).
(6) Make sure that the DFDR is correctly aligned to prevent damage to the electrical connection.
(7) Put the knurled nuts (3) in position at the attach tabs (2) and tighten them.

A. Operational Test
(1) Do the operational test of the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-33-00-710-007).

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Set light switch 3LJ to the OFF position.
(3) Close access door 312AR.
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
