3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the aircraft is in the Ground configuration (the landing gear is compressed and all engines are stopped).

B. Get access to the avionics compartment.
   (1) Open access door 824 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002).
   (2) For the location of this component, refer to paragraph Component Location

E. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration for the FDIMU DFDRS Software Load through the PDL
   (1) On the front panel of the FDIMU, open the flap to get access to the OPERATIONAL/STORAGE switch.
   (2) Make sure that the OPERATIONAL ON/OFF switch is in the ON position.
NOTE: This enables the battery backup buffering of all internal AIDS data stored in the volatile memory in case of external power shut-down.
   (3) On the PDL, make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in OFF position.
   (4) Connect the adapter cable to the FDIMU front connector.
   (5) Connect the adapter cable to the YV68A100 PORTABLE DATA LOADER interface.
   (6) Make sure that disk [10TV1] is not in the non write-protected status (write-protection is OFF).

NOTE: Depending on the software version, there can be more than one software disks.

E. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration for the FDIMU DFDRS Software Load through the Portable Data Loader (PDL)
   (1) On the front panel of the FDIMU, open the flap to get access to the OPERATIONAL/STORAGE switch.
   (2) Make sure that the OPERATIONAL ON/OFF switch is in the ON position.
NOTE: This enables the battery backup buffering of all internal AIDS data stored in the volatile memory in case of external power shut-down.
   (3) On the Portable Data Loader (PDL), make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in OFF position.
   (4) Connect the Adapter Cable to the FDIMU front connector.
   (5) Connect the Adapter Cable to the YV68A110 PORTABLE DATA LOADER interface.
   (6) Make sure that all [10TV1] non-writeprotected status (writeprotection OFF).
NOTE: Depending on the software version, there can be more than one software disks.

On the Data Loading Selector display:
  • Put the data loading selector ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
  • The DB/N:XXXXXXXX and PUSH NEXT/PREV indications show.
  • Push the NEXT or PREV key until the FDR SYS NOT SELECTED indication shows on the display.
  • The FDR SYS NOT SELECTED indication shows.
  • Push the SEL CTL key.
  • The FDR SYS SELECTED indication shows.
On the Center Pedestal, on the MDDU:
On the MDDU display:
  • Open the floppy disk access door.
  • The MDDU READY indication shows.
  • Put the software disk (FDIU SW) into the MDDU.
NOTE: If there are more than one software disks, load all disks until the loading process is completed.
  • These indications show in a short time:
    READY,
    WAIT RESPONSE,
    TRANSF IN PROG.

NOTE: Dependently from the MDDU P/N it can show the BUS-number and the file-sizes between the messages TRANSF IN PROG and TRANSF COMPLETE. The file-sizes decrease to zero during the data loading. This shows the progress of the data loading.

  • Wait until the TRANSF COMPLETE indication comes on.
  • The TRANSF COMPLETE indication shows after the load procedure is completed correctly.
  • Push the EJECT button and remove the software disk.
  • The MDDU READY indication shows.
  • Close the floppy disk access door.

On the Data Loading Selector panel:
On the Data Loading Selector display:
  • Push the SEL CTL key.
  • The FDR SYS NOT SELECTED indication shows.
  • Set the ON/OFF switch to OFF.
