A. Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the access door 824.
(2) Open the access door 824. (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002)

4. Procedure
Subtask 31-33-00-100-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Cleaning Procedure of the Optical Lens of the QAR

CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE BRUSH. DO NOT USE SOLVENTS. KEEP THIS CLEANER IN A CLEAN, DRY LOCATION. A CONTAMINATED BRUSH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DRIVE.

(1) Clean the Optical Lens of the QAR (Version A).

Optical Lens Cleaning Procedure ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(a) Unlock and open the QAR access door.
(b) If an optical disk is installed, remove it.
1 Push the eject button and remove the optical disk.
(c) Insert the optical lens-cleaner disk into the QAR disk drive.

NOTE: The part number of the optical lens-cleaner disk shows in the QAR vendor manual.

(d) The QAR cleans its optical lens.
(e) After approximately 30 seconds, the QAR ejects the optical lens-cleaner disk.
(f) Remove the optical lens-cleaner disk from the disk drive.
(g) If removed, insert the optical disk into the disk drive.
(h) Close and lock the recorder door.
(2) Clean the Optical Lens of the QAR (Version B).

Optical Lens Cleaning Procedure ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(a) Unlock and open the QAR access door.
(b) If an optical disk is installed, remove it.
1 Push the eject button and remove the optical disk.
(c) Remove the brush cover from the optical lens-cleaner card.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE FORCE WHEN YOU PUSH IN THE CLEANER. FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DRIVE.

(d) Insert the optical lens-cleaner card slowly and carefully into the disk drive until it touches the stopper.

NOTE: The part number of the optical lens-cleaner card shows in the QAR vendor manual.

(e) Pull back the optical lens-cleaner card approximately 5 centimeters (2 inches).
(f) Repeat the last two steps approximately 10 times to complete the cleaning.
(g) Remove the optical lens-cleaner card from the disk drive.
(h) Put the brush cover on the optical lens-cleaner and put it in a clean, dry place.
(i) Replace the drive lens-cleaner after it has been used about 60 times.
(3) If removed, insert the optical disk into the disk drive.
(4) Close and lock the QAR access door.

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the access door 824. (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-002)
(3) Remove the access platform(s).

C. De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
