A. Clean the Seals
(1) Clean the surface of the E-seals (20) and (31) with a clean cloth made moist with Methanol (Material No.CP1059) .
Subtask 30-21-51-210-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the surface of the E-seals (20) and (31) with a clean cloth made moist with Methanol (Material No.CP1059) .
B. Visually Inspect the Seals
(1) Inspect the seal for signs of oxidation, carbon flakes and foreign substances left on the seal from contact with the mating flanges.
(2) Inspect the surface and the edges of the seal for dents, pitting, cracks, scratches and distortion.
(3) If any substance cannot be removed from the seals or if damage or distortion exists, the seal should be replaced.

(2) Inspect the surface and the edges of the seal for dents, pitting, cracks, scratches and distortion.
(3) If any substance cannot be removed from the seals or if damage or distortion exists, the seal should be replaced.
C. Installation of the Engine Air-Intake Anti-Ice Valve
(1) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(2) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(3) Put the anti-ice valve (5) between the forward duct and the nozzle duct. Make sure that the flow arrow on the valve points to the nozzle duct and the index mark is aligned with the forward duct.
(4) Attach the anti-ice valve to the ducts:
(b) Examine the coupling (15). Try to move the slide. If the slide moves, open the coupling. Close the coupling with the saddle washer in the correct position between the nut and the coupling body.
(5) TORQUE the couplings (15) as follows:
.
(b) Lightly hit the coupling perimeters with a HAMMER - FIBER .
(c) Torque the coupling again to the same torque value and lightly hit the coupling perimeter again.
(d) Do this procedure again, then torque to the same value.
(6) Install the union (10) in the anti-ice valve (5) with the new AIPC 30-21-49-01-280 PACKING (25).
(7) TORQUE the union (10) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
.
(8) Connect the hose coupling to the union (10).
(9) TORQUE the coupling to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
.
(10) Connect the electrical connector to the anti-ice valve (5). Tighten the connector by hand plus one-eighth of a turn.
Subtask 30-21-51-865-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THE SMOOTH CIRCULAR SURFACE OF THE COUPLING IS RADIALLY OUTBOARD FROM THE ENGINE. DO NOT LET THE COUPLING TOUCH ENGINE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE. DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE COULD OCCUR.
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU CLOSE THE COUPLING, MAKE SURE THE SADDLE WASHER IS IN CORRECT POSITION. THE SADDLE WASHER IN THE END OF THE SLIDE MUST BE BETWEEN THE NUT AND THE COUPLING BODY. IF THE COUPLING IS NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY IT WILL FAIL.
(a) Install the E-seal (20) and the E-seal (31) on the anti-ice valve (5). Attach the anti-ice valve (5) to the ducts with the couplings (15). (b) Examine the coupling (15). Try to move the slide. If the slide moves, open the coupling. Close the coupling with the saddle washer in the correct position between the nut and the coupling body.

CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE DUCTS ARE CORRECTLY CONNECTED WHEN YOU TORQUE THE COUPLINGS. IF THE DUCTS ARE NOT CORRECTLY CONNECTED THEY CAN LEAK AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO ADJACENT ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS.
(a) TORQUE the couplings (15) to between 85 and 70 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (b) Lightly hit the coupling perimeters with a HAMMER - FIBER .
(c) Torque the coupling again to the same torque value and lightly hit the coupling perimeter again.
(d) Do this procedure again, then torque to the same value.
