ENGINE ANTI-ICE VALVE
A. Dispatch Action. This procedure gives the instructions to do the deactivation of the Nacelle Anti-Icing (NAI) valve.
The deactivation of the NAI valve can be done:
C. You can lock a NAI valve in the closed position (which is known as the deactivated-closed condition). In this condition, no anti-ice air can flow from the engine to the inlet cowl assembly.
D. You can lock the NAI valve in the open position (which is known as the deactivated-open condition). In this condition, the other NAI valve must control the flow of anti-ice air to the inlet cowl assembly. Before you lock an NAI valve in the open position, you must make sure that the other NAI valve:
Is not in the deactivated-open condition, and
Is serviceable.

Deactivation of the Air-Intake Anti-Ice Valves
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY THE PERMITTED VALVE DEACTIVATION TIME-LIMIT GIVEN IN THE MMEL. IF THE DEACTIVATION TIME IS MORE THAN THIS LIMIT, THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK THAT THE SECOND VALVE FAILED OPEN WILL CAUSE AN ANTI-ICE OVERPRESSURE. IF THE SECOND VALVE FAILS OPEN, THE ECAM WARNING MESSAGE "ANTI ICE ENG 1(2) OVER PRESS" WILL COME INTO VIEW AND DAMAGE TO THE AIR INLET WILL OCCUR. IN THIS CONDITION, REFER TO THE RELATED TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE.

ENGINE ANTI-ICE VALVE
A. Dispatch Action. This procedure gives the instructions to do the deactivation of the Nacelle Anti-Icing (NAI) valve.
The deactivation of the NAI valve can be done:
- Mechanically on the NAI valve (lock closed or open). This procedure locks the NAI valve to prevent the movement of the valve disk.
If you do the deactivation of the NAI valve mechanically, follow this task. - Remotely with the Multipurpose Control & Display Unit (MCDU) (lock open only). This procedure gives the instruction for the NAI-valve opening solenoid.
If you do the deactivation of the NAI valve with the MCDU, do the NAI valve lock open (menu mode) Ref. AMM Task 73-29-00-710-808-A.
