(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Before you do work on the Ice Protection system, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the:

Pneumatic system
Engines
Slats
APU.

(3) Install a 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap and slat control lever.
(4) On panel 191DB, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the bleed air system.

(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below zone 522(622).
(2) Remove the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-008):
(a) FOR [9DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, L)

Remove access panel 522WB from panel 522AB.

(b) FOR [10DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, R)

Remove access panel 622WB from panel 622AB.

C. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below zone 522(622).
(2) Remove the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-004):
(a) FOR [9DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, L)

Remove access panel 522YB.

(b) FOR [10DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, R)

Remove access panel 622YB.

4. Procedure
Subtask 30-11-00-440-054-A

A. Replace the Wing Anti-Ice Control-Valve
(1) If you know that the deactivated wing anti-ice control-valve(s) is (are) defective, replace the defective valve(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 30-11-51-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 30-11-51-400-001).

B. Trouble Shoot the Applicable Wing Anti-Ice Control-Valve (for part number SAS 911-002A)

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

(1) If you do not know the cause of the defect, do these subsequent steps:
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolt (1).
(b) Remove the bolt (1) from the indicator (2).
(c) Install the bolt (1) in the stowage position.
(d) Safety the bolt (1) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
(e) Slowly operate the indicator (2) with your hand to make sure that it moves freely.

C. Trouble Shoot the Applicable Wing Anti-Ice Control-Valve (for part number 38E93-X)

(1) If you do not know the cause of the defect, do these subsequent steps:
(a) FOR [9DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, L)

Remove and discard the lockwire from the locking screw (10)
Remove the locking screw (10) from the locking hole (11) of the indicator (12).

(b) FOR [10DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, R)

Push the locking plate (15) to its middle position.

NOTE: The locking plate (15) has three positions:

When in its middle position, the locking plate (15) is unlocked.
When pushed fully left or fully right, the locking plate (15) locks the rod (14).

Make sure that you hear a click when you put the locking plate (15) in the correct position.

Install the locking screw (10) in the stowage position
Safety the locking screw (10) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.

(2) Do the test that follows:
(a) FOR [9DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, L)

Slowly operate the indicator (12) with your hand to make sure that it moves freely.

(b) FOR [10DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, R)

Slowly operate the rod (14) with your hand to make sure that it moves freely.

(b) FOR [10DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, R)

Install access panel 622WB.
