3. Job Set-up
Subtask 30-11-00-941-074-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (2) Make sure that the slats are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
   (3) On the flap and slat control lever, on panel 114VU, install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION.
   (4) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in positions that follow, before you start the work on the ice protection system:
  • On the high-pressure ground-power connections, to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system
  • In the cockpit, to tell persons not to operate the engines or the APU control switches
  • On panel 30VU, to tell persons not to pressurize the bleed-air system
  • On panel 114VU, to tell persons not to operate the slat controls.

C. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable area.
   (2) Remove the WAI control valve(s) [9DL] [10DL] (Ref. AMM TASK 30-11-51-000-001).
   (3) Remove the applicable access panel(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-006):
     (a) For the left wing, remove access panel 522NB.
     (b) For the right wing, remove access panel 622NB.
   (4) Remove the applicable torque shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-45-000-004):
     (a) For the left wing, remove [6010CM]
     (b) For the right wing, remove [6060CM]
   (5) Extend the slats:
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Install the 98D27804001000 ADAPTOR-DRIVE, SLAT (AND FLAP) and a WRENCH - PNEUMATIC on the applicable bevel gearbox:
  • For the left wing, use [6010CM]
  • For the right wing, use [6060CM]
     (b) Remove the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT, installed outboard of the removed torque shaft FIN 6010CM (6060CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-000-003).
     (c) Manually extend the slats to the fully extended position.
     (d) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT outboard of the removed torque shaft FIN 6010CM (6060CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
   (6) Remove the applicable telescopic duct (Ref. AMM TASK 30-11-41-000-001).
   (7) At the interface of slats no. 3 and 4 and slats no. 4 and 5:
     (a) Loosen the clamps (1) and then remove the flexible duct(s) (2) and the clamps (1).
4. Procedure
Subtask 30-11-00-290-052-A
A. Inspection of the WAI control valve(s) and WAI ducts:
   (1) Do the inspection of the WAI control valve(s) 9DL (10DL):
     (a) Do a visual inspection of the WAI control valve(s) 9DL (10DL).
     (b) Make sure that there is no damage or unwanted particles in the WAI control valve(s) 9DL (10DL).
   (2) Do the inspection of the WAI duct from RIB 08 to RIB 13:
     (a) Put the BORESCOPE - FLEXIBLE through the opening of the WAI duct.
     (b) Make sure that there is no damage or unwanted particles in the inner side of the WAI duct.
   (3) Do the inspection of the telescopic duct:
     (a) Put the BORESCOPE - FLEXIBLE through the opening of the telescopic duct.
     (b) Make sure that there is no damage or unwanted particles in the inner side of the telescopic duct.
   (4) Do the inspection of the piccolo ducts on the slats no. 3, 4 and 5:
     (a) Put the BORESCOPE - FLEXIBLE through the opening of the piccolo duct(s).
     (b) Make sure that there is no damage or unwanted particles in the inner side of the piccolo duct(s).
   (5) Do the inspection of the flexible duct(s):
     (a) Do the visual inspection of the flexible duct(s).
     (b) Make sure that there is no damage or unwanted particles in the inner side of the flexible duct(s).
5. Close-up
Subtask 30-11-00-410-064-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) At the interface of slats no. 3 and 4 and slats no. 4 and 5:
     (a) Install the flexible duct(s) (2) with the clamps (1).
     (b) Tighten the clamps (1).
   (3) Install the applicable telescopic duct (Ref. AMM TASK 30-11-41-400-001).
   (4) Remove the 98D27804001000 ADAPTOR-DRIVE, SLAT (AND FLAP) and WRENCH - PNEUMATIC from the slat drive shaft.
   (5) Install the applicable torque shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-45-400-005):
     (a) For the left wing, install [6010CM]
     (b) For the right wing, install [6060CM]
   (6) Install the applicable access panel(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-400-006):
     (a) For the left wing, install access panel 522NB.
     (b) For the right wing, install access panel 622NB.
   (7) Install the WAI control valve(s) 9DL (10DL) (Ref. AMM TASK 30-11-51-400-001).
   (8) Remove the access platform(s).
