A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems:
  • In the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel
  • On the ground service panel of the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems.
   (3) Make sure that the left and right main landing gear doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position.
   (5) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (6) Make sure that the reservoirs of the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (7) Make sure that a CONTAINER - HYDRAULIC FLUID RESISTANT is in position under the hydraulic connections of the power transfer unit.
   (8) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the power transfer unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).

C. Inspection of the Power Transfer Unit Shock Mounts
   (1) Clean the PTU shock mounts (37).
   (2) Make sure that the PTU shock mounts (37) show no corrosion, open wires, dents or any other damage.
   (3) Make sure that the dimension between the PTU attachment plate (35) and the dampener body (36) is between 3.75 mm (0.1476 in.) and 5.75 mm (0.2264 in.).
   (4) If necessary, replace the PTU shock mount(s) (37).
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-23-41-420-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Power Transfer Unit
CAUTION: FILL THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE HYDRAULIC LINES. IF NOT YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
NOTE: Make sure that there is no stress on the hydraulic hoses and pipes and that there is sufficient space between them. Do not fully tighten the unions and nuts before all of the hydraulic hoses and pipes are connected. Make sure that the shock mounts do not turn when you tighten the bolts (12).
   (3) Put the power transfer unit (7) with the spacers (23) in position on the support plate (8).
   (4) Loosely install the bolts (12) and the washers (11).
   (5) TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in ) T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (6) Safety the bolts (12) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (7) Remove the blanking caps from the ports of the power transfer unit (7).
   (8) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (9) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (10) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.
02ABA1) to the threads of the line end-fittings.
   (11) Put Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) into the HP, LP and case drain ports of the PTU until the unit is completely full.
   (12) Connect the hose to the HP port (15) of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (13) TORQUE the union nut (16) to between 8.3 and 7.5 m.daN (61.21 and 55.31 lbf.ft ) T
   (14) Connect the self-sealing coupling (14) to the LP port (13) of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (15) TORQUE the coupling (14) to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )
T.
   (16) Connect the self-sealing coupling (4) to the LP port (5) of the Green hydraulic system.
   (17) TORQUE the coupling (4) to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )
T.
   (18) Connect the hose to the HP port (6) of Green hydraulic system.
   (19) TORQUE the union nut (3) to between 8.3 and 7.5 m.daN (61.21 and 55.31 lbf.ft )
T.
   (20) Connect the hose to the case drain port (18) of the Green hydraulic system.
   (21) TORQUE the union nut (2) to between 3.2 and 2.9 m.daN (23.60 and 21.39 lbf.ft )

   (22) Connect the hose to the case drain port (17) of the Yellow hydraulic system.

   (24) Connect the bonding strap (19) to the power transfer unit (7) with the screw (21), the washer (22) and the nut (20) (

   (25) Connect the hose to the seal drain port (10).
   (26) TORQUE the union nut (9) to between 1.3 and 1.2 m.daN (115.04 and 106.19 lbf.in ) T.

A. Installation of the Power Transfer Unit

   (11) Put Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) into the HP, LP and case drain ports of the PTU until the unit is completely full.
NOTE: It is not permitted to use high-density fluid Skydrol 500B-4.
   (12) Connect the hose to the HP port (15) of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (13) TORQUE the union nut (16) to between 8.3 and 7.5 m.daN (61.21 and 55.31 lbf.ft ) T.
   (14) Connect the self-sealing coupling (14) to the LP port (13) of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (15) TORQUE the coupling (14) to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )
T.
   (16) Connect the self-sealing coupling (4) to the LP port (5) of the Green hydraulic system.
   (17) TORQUE the coupling (4) to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )
T.
   (18) Connect the hose to the HP port (6) of Green hydraulic system.
   (19) TORQUE the union nut (3) to between 8.3 and 7.5 m.daN (61.21 and 55.31 lbf.ft )

C. Preparation for the Test
NOTE: The inspection of the hydraulic filter elements is applicable only if you replace the PTU because of contamination. You can ignore this inspection if you do a scheduled replacement of the PTU, a replacement of the PTU after a small leakage and other.
   (1) Do a check of the filter element of the Green LP filter 1002GM. If you find contamination in the filter elements, replace the filter elements (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-44-610-001).
   (2) Do a check of the filter element of the Green HP filter 1048GM. If you find contamination in the filter elements, replace the filter elements (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-45-610-001).
   (3) If you find contamination in the filter elements (for example: particles, jelly):
   (4) Do a check of the filter element of the Yellow LP filter 3002GM. If you find contamination in the filter elements, replace the filter elements (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-44-610-001).
   (5) Do a check of the filter element of the Yellow HP filter 3048GM. If you find contamination in the filter elements, replace the filter elements (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-45-610-001).
   (6) If you find contamination in the filter elements (for example: particles, jelly):
   (7) Remove the warning notices.
   (8) Connect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (9) Pressurize the reservoirs of the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (10) Make sure that the fluid level in the reservoirs of the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems is correct. Add fluid as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
   (11) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

D. Bleeding Procedure of the PTU with the Electric Pump of the Yellow Hydraulic System and a Ground Hydraulic Supply
NOTE: The procedure that follows is done with a ground hydraulic supply. If the ground hydraulic supply is not available, do the procedure with the engine dry motoring (Ref. Para 4.E.).
   (1) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the PTU is connected.
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW is on.
   (4) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system with a ground cart (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).
   (5) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system with the E-pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
   (6) Make sure that the pressure in the hydraulic systems is approximately 3000 psi (206.8427 bar).
   (7) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the PTU P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW goes off.
   (8) Make sure that the PTU does not start.
   (9) Keep the hydraulic systems pressurized for a minimum of 15 minutes.
   (10) Examine the hydraulic connections of the PTU and make sure that there are no leaks.
   (11) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the PTU P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW comes on.
   (12) Depressurize the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-864-001).
   (13) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the PTU P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW goes off.
   (14) Slowly pressurize the Green hydraulic system with the ground cart until the PTU starts to operate (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).
   (15) Let the PTU operate for a minimum of 5 minutes.
   (16) Examine the hydraulic connections of the PTU and make sure that there are no leaks.
   (17) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the PTU P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW comes on.
   (18) Make sure that the PTU stops.
   (19) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (20) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the PTU P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW goes off.
   (21) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system with the E-pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
   (22) Make sure that the PTU starts to operate.
   (23) Let the PTU operate for a minimum of 5 minutes.
   (24) Examine the hydraulic connections of the PTU and make sure that there are no leaks.
   (25) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the PTU P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW comes on.
   (26) Make sure that the PTU stops.
   (27) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-864-001).
   (28) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
Subtask 29-23-41-870-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: DO NOT START OR DRY MOTOR THE ENGINES WITH A HYDRAULIC GROUND POWER SUPPLY CONNECTED TO THE AIRCRAFT. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE PUMPS.
E. Bleeding Procedure of the PTU with the left Engine Pump and the Electric Pump of the Yellow Hydraulic System
NOTE: The procedure that follows is done with the engine dry motoring. For the bleeding procedure with a ground hydraulic supply, go to Para 4.D.
   (1) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the PTU is connected.
   (2) Make sure that the parking brake is in the OFF position.
   (3) Make sure that the nose wheel steering is not deactivated.
   (4) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (5) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW is on.
   (6) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system with the E-pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
   (7) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system by dry motoring the left engine for a maximum of 4 minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-700-805).
NOTE: When you do the dry motoring, obey the starter limits.
   (8) Make sure that the pressure in the hydraulic systems is approximately 3000 psi (206.8427 bar).
   (9) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the PTU P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW goes off.
   (10) Make sure that the PTU does not start.
   (11) Keep the hydraulic systems pressurized for a minimum of 3 minutes.
   (12) Examine the hydraulic connections of the PTU and make sure that there are no leaks.
   (13) Stop the dry motoring of the left engine after 4 minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-700-805).
   (14) Make sure that the PTU starts to operate.
   (15) Let the PTU operate for a minimum of 5 minutes.
   (16) Examine the hydraulic connections of the PTU and make sure that there are no leaks.
   (17) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the PTU P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW comes on.
   (18) Make sure that the PTU stops.
   (19) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-864-001).
   (20) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Push the PTU P/BSW.
     (b) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW goes off.
   (21) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system by dry motoring the left engine for a maximum of 4 minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-001).

E. Bleeding Procedure of the PTU with the left Engine Pump and the Electric Pump of the Yellow Hydraulic System
NOTE: The procedure that follows is done with the engine dry motoring. For the bleeding procedure with a ground hydraulic supply, go to Para 4.D.
   (1) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the PTU is connected.
   (2) Make sure that the parking brake is in the OFF position.
   (3) Make sure that the nose wheel steering is not deactivated.
   (4) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (5) On the panel 40VU:
     (a) Make sure that the OFF light of the PTU P/BSW is on.
   (6) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system with the E-pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
   (7) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system by dry motoring the left engine for a maximum of 4 minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-001).

   (1) Do the operational test of the PTU (power transfer Green to Yellow hydraulic system) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-710-002).
   (2) Examine the hydraulic connections of the PTU and make sure that there are no leaks.
   (3) Do the operational test of the PTU (power transfer Yellow to Green hydraulic system) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-710-003).
   (4) Examine the hydraulic connections of the PTU and make sure that there are no leaks.

Subtask 29-23-41-860-052-A
A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Make sure that the fluid level in the reservoirs of the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems is correct. Add fluid as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001) .
   (2) Remove the containers from below the hydraulic connections.
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Remove the access platform.
   (5) Close the left and right main landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
