WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems.
  • in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
  • on the ground service panel of the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems.
   (3) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (4) Depressurize the reservoirs of the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (5) Open the left and right main landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (6) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position.
   (7) Put a CONTAINER - HYDRAULIC FLUID RESISTANT under the hydraulic connections of the power transfer unit.
   (8) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the power transfer unit (PTU) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).

Subtask 29-23-41-210-051-A
A. Preparation for Removal
NOTE: This procedure is only applicable, if you did not do a check of the low pressure check-valves during the troubleshooting procedure.
   (1) In open position, visually examine the low pressure check-valves that follow for contamination, damage and blockage:
  • For Green hydraulic system, examine check valves 1019GM and 1020GM.
  • For Yellow hydraulic system, examine check valves 3019GM and 3020GM.
     (a) If necessary, replace the applicable check valve (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-003).
Subtask 29-23-41-020-050-C
B. Removal of the Power Transfer Unit
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
   (1) Loosen the union nut (1) from the case drain port (17) of the Yellow hydraulic system and remove the hose.
   (2) Loosen the union nut (2) from the case drain port (18) of the Green hydraulic system and remove the hose.
   (3) Loosen the union nut (3) from the HP port (6) of the Green hydraulic system and remove the hose
   (4) Disconnect the self-sealing coupling (4) from the LP port (5) of the Green hydraulic system and remove the hose.
   (5) Disconnect the self-sealing coupling (14) from the LP port (13) of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (6) Loosen the union nut (16) from the HP port (15) of the Yellow hydraulic system and remove the hose.
   (7) Loosen the union nut (9) from the seal drain port (10) and remove the hose.
   (8) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (9) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the ports of the power transfer unit (7).
   (10) Remove the nut (20), the screw (21), the washer (22) and the bonding strap (19).
   (11) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (12).
   (12) Remove the bolts (12) and the washers (11).
NOTE: Make sure that the shock mounts do not turn when you remove the bolts (12).
   (13) Remove the power transfer unit (7) from the support plate (8).
   (14) Remove the spacers (23).
