CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ACTUATOR AND THE ENGINE PUMP FIRE VALVE TOUCH ACROSS THEIR FULL SURFACES AND CORRECTLY CONNECT WITH :

THE DRIVE SHAFT OF THE ACTUATOR ENGAGED IN THE COUPLING OF THE ENGINE PUMP FIRE VALVE
THE DOWEL PIN IN THE ADAPTOR PLATE ENGAGED WITH THE HOLE IN THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.

(1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
(2) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:

In the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
On the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.

(4) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system and put it in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(5) Depressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE RAT TRAVEL RANGE IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU EXTEND/RETRACT THE RAT.

(6) Extend the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).
(7) Put the warning notices in position to tell persons not to operate the RAT:

on the overhead panels 21VU and 40VU.

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-22-00-210-083-B

A. Visual Inspection of the RAT
(1) Examine the RAT and its related components for:

cracks,
corrosion,
other types of damage.

(2) Make sure that the RAT and its related components are correctly attached.
(3) Turn the turbine blades manually and make sure that they turn freely.
(4) Examine the aluminum RAT blades for damage:
(a) If you find cracks, replace the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-400-010).
(b) If you find corrosion or other types of damage, do the repair, given in the CMM CMM 292144 and/or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-300-001), or replace the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-400-010).
(5) Examine the threaded cover for damage CMM 292144.
(6) If, after repair or damage removal, the defects are more than the limits given in the subsequent table, you must replace the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-000-010) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-400-010).

NOTE	DESCRIPTION OF THE DAMAGE
< 1 >	A scratch, nick or dent on the faces specified by the dimension 'H' more than 0.020 in. (0.51 mm) deep or 5% of local blade thickness by 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) wide and 1.00 in. (25.4 mm) long, replace the RAT.
< 2 >	A scratch, nick or dent on the leading or trailing edge in the area specified by the dimension 'H' more than 0.060 in. (1.52 mm) deep by 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) wide, replace the RAT.
< 3 >	A scratch, nick or dent on the faces in the area specified by the dimension 'G' but not included in the areas specified by the dimensions 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D' and 'F' more than 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) deep or 5% of local blade thickness by 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) wide and 1.00 in. (25.4 mm) long, replace the RAT.
< 4 >	A scratch, nick or dent on the leading or trailing edge in the area specified by the dimension 'G' more than 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) deep by 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) wide, replace the RAT.
< 5 >	A scratch, nick or dent in the areas specified by the dimensions 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D' and 'F' more than 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) deep by 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) wide and 1.00 in. (25.40 mm) long, replace the RAT. A small difference in the color and the surface finish in these areas is permitted.
< 6 >	A scratch, nick or dent on the leading or trailing edge in the area specified by the dimension 'E' more than 0.020 in. (0.51 mm) deep by 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) wide, replace the RAT.
< 7 >	A scratch, nick or dent on the faces in the area specified by the dimension 'H' but not included in the areas specified by the dimensions 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D' and 'F' more than 0.020 in. (0.51 mm) deep or 5% of local blade thickness by 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) wide and 1.00 in. (25.4 mm) long, replace the RAT.
< 8 >	A scratch, nick, dent or bend in the area specified by the dimension 'J' is permitted, do not replace the RAT.

B. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE RAT TRAVEL RANGE IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU EXTEND/RETRACT THE RAT.

(2) Retract the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-006).
(3) Remove the safety barriers.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
