Installation of the Filter HP Assembly
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Subtask 29-16-11-860-057-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(4) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(5) Make sure that the CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) is in position below the filter to collect the unwanted hydraulic fluid.
(6) Make sure that the access panel 197BB is removed.
(7) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
Subtask 29-16-11-560-053-A (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
- In the cockpit on the hydraulic panel 40VU of the overhead panel,
- On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(4) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(5) Make sure that the CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) is in position below the filter to collect the unwanted hydraulic fluid.
(6) Make sure that the access panel 197BB is removed.
(7) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
B. Preparation for Installation
(1) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-16-04-03-160 PACKING (6) and the new AIPC 29-16-04-03-140 PACKING (7).
(2) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the threads of the bolts (8) and to the nuts (9).
4. Procedure(1) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-16-04-03-160 PACKING (6) and the new AIPC 29-16-04-03-140 PACKING (7).
(2) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the threads of the bolts (8) and to the nuts (9).
Subtask 29-16-11-420-053-A
A. Installation of the HP Filter
(2) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Put the HP filter (1) in position in the service panel.
(5) Install the bolts (8) and the nuts (9).
(6) Install the new packings (6) and (7) and the unions (3) and (5).
(7) TORQUE the union nuts (3) and (5) to between 1.32 and 1.21 m.daN (116.81 and 107.08 lbf.in )

(8) Remove the blanking plugs from the disconnected line end-fittings.
(9) Connect the union nut (2) to the union (3).
(10) TORQUE the union nut (2) to between 2.3 and 2.0 m.daN (16.96 and 14.75 lbf.ft )
.
(11) Connect the union nut (4) to the union (5).
(a) For the union (5) with P/N MS21902D4:
1 TORQUE the union nut (4) to between 1.3 and 1.2 m.daN (115.04 and 106.19 lbf.in )
.
(b) For the union (5) with P/N MS21902J4:
1 TORQUE the union nut (4) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
.
(12) Make a mark on each pipe end-fitting with the Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.04JMD9) .
Subtask 29-16-11-790-054-A CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.(2) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) Put the HP filter (1) in position in the service panel.
(5) Install the bolts (8) and the nuts (9).
(6) Install the new packings (6) and (7) and the unions (3) and (5).
(7) TORQUE the union nuts (3) and (5) to between 1.32 and 1.21 m.daN (116.81 and 107.08 lbf.in )
. (8) Remove the blanking plugs from the disconnected line end-fittings.
(9) Connect the union nut (2) to the union (3).
(10) TORQUE the union nut (2) to between 2.3 and 2.0 m.daN (16.96 and 14.75 lbf.ft )
. (11) Connect the union nut (4) to the union (5).
(a) For the union (5) with P/N MS21902D4:
1 TORQUE the union nut (4) to between 1.3 and 1.2 m.daN (115.04 and 106.19 lbf.in )
. (b) For the union (5) with P/N MS21902J4:
1 TORQUE the union nut (4) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
. (12) Make a mark on each pipe end-fitting with the Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.04JMD9) .
B. Test of the Filter Assembly
(1) Remove the blanking cap from the reservoir fill valve 1698GM.
(2) Connect the flexible hose 1699GM to the fill valve.
(3) Put the end of the flexible hose into a container of the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
(4) Make sure that the reservoir filling selector 1134GQ is set to 'N'.
(5) Operate the hand pump through three or four cycles to pressurize the filter.
(7) Make sure that the clogging indicator stays in.
(8) Momentarily set the reservoir filling selector to one of the reservoir positions (G, Y or B) to release the hydraulic pressure.
(9) Set the reservoir filling selector to the position 'N'.
(10) Disconnect the flexible hose and put it into its position in the ground service panel of the Green system.
(11) Install the blanking cap on the reservoir fill valve.
5. Close-up(1) Remove the blanking cap from the reservoir fill valve 1698GM.
(2) Connect the flexible hose 1699GM to the fill valve.
(3) Put the end of the flexible hose into a container of the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
(4) Make sure that the reservoir filling selector 1134GQ is set to 'N'.
(5) Operate the hand pump through three or four cycles to pressurize the filter.
NOTE: A Pressure relief valve in the filling selector valve will operate if too much pressure is put into the system. If this occurs, a small amount of fluid will go into the reservoir of the Yellow system.
(6) Make sure that no fluid comes out of the filter. (7) Make sure that the clogging indicator stays in.
(8) Momentarily set the reservoir filling selector to one of the reservoir positions (G, Y or B) to release the hydraulic pressure.
(9) Set the reservoir filling selector to the position 'N'.
(10) Disconnect the flexible hose and put it into its position in the ground service panel of the Green system.
(11) Install the blanking cap on the reservoir fill valve.
Subtask 29-16-11-860-058-A
A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
(1) Remove the container from below the filter.
(2) Pressurize the reservoirs of the hydraulic systems.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
