Installation of the Convoluted Bleed Hose with Restrictor

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-14-13-860-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
   (2) Make sure that the hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green, Blue and Yellow hydraulic systems:
  • On access door 197CB, on the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
  • On access door 197EB, on the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.
  • On access door 198CB, on the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (4) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic reservoirs.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
   (2) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
  • Make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (OFF legend on).
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
   (3) On the HYD section of panel 40VU:
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green, Blue and Yellow hydraulic systems.
   (4) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
   (5) On the HP ground connectors:
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

E. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the left thrust-reverser cowl-door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the pylon.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-14-13-420-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Convoluted Bleed Hose with Restrictor
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (4) Remove the blanking plugs from the convoluted bleed hose (2) and from the pipes (1) and (3).
   (5) Connect the convoluted bleed hose (2) to the pipe (3) (pylon side).
   (6) Tighten the union nut that attaches the convoluted bleed hose (2) to the pipe (3) with your hand.
   (7) TORQUE the union nut of the convoluted bleed hose (2) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
   (8) Connect the convoluted bleed hose (2) to the pipe (1) (engine side).
   (9) Tighten the union nut that attaches the convoluted bleed hose (2) to the pipe (1) with your hand.
   (10) TORQUE the union nut of the convoluted bleed hose (2) to between 1.37 and 0.83 m.daN (121.24 and 73.45 lbf.in )

   (11) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line

B. Test
   (1) Do the functional test of the hydraulic reservoir pressurization system with the left engine (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-720-002).
   (2) Make sure that there are no leaks at the convoluted bleed hose (2).

   (2) Close the left thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
