4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-43-420-059-B
A. Installation of the Case-Drain Filter Assembly
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (4) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is in position below the filter assembly (8).
   (5) Put the filter assembly (8) in position on the filter case-drain bracket (9).
   (6) Install the four bolts (4).
   (7) TORQUE the bolts (4) to between 7.5 and 6.5 m.N (66.37 and 57.52 lbf.in ) T.
   (8) Apply hydraulic fluid:
CAUTION: DO NOT USE HIGH-DENSITY FLUID SKYDROL 500B-4 FOR A320NEO FAMILY. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.
02ABA1) on the new EIPC 29-11-49-05-090 PACKING (5) and on the threads of the union (7).
     (b) Apply a thin layer of Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.
02ABA1) on the threads of the coupling nut of the case drain hose (6).
   (9) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the ports of the filter assembly (8).
   (10) Put the new packing (5) on the union (7) and install the union (7) in the port of the filter assembly (8).
   (11) TORQUE the union (7) to between 33.9 and 28.2 m.N (25.00 and 20.80 lbf.ft ) T.
Use the triple torque procedure as follows:
     (a) Torque to the specified value.
     (b) Loosen until it is free.
     (c) Torque to the specified value.
     (d) Torque to the specified value again.
   (12) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (13) Connect the case drain hose (6) to the union (7) with your hand.
   (14) Hold the union (7) with a WRENCH - STANDARD and TORQUE the coupling nut of the case drain hose (6) to between 164.6 and 149.6 lbf.in (1.86 and 1.69 m.daN )
T.
   (15) Apply hydraulic fluid:
