Installation of the Engine Pump Case-Drain Filter


WARNING: DO NOT GET HYDRAULIC FLUID ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR EYES OR IN YOUR MOUTH. HYDRAULIC FLUID IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY. FLUSH HYDRAULIC FLUID FROM YOUR EYES, MOUTH OR SKIN WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOU GET HYDRAULIC FLUID IN YOUR EYES OR MOUTH.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-43-860-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
   (5) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that the fan-cowl door is open.
   (7) Make sure that the door 195BB is open.
Subtask 29-13-43-941-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the hydraulic tube connection to collect the remaining fluid.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-43-420-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Prepapration for Installation
WARNING: DO NOT GET HYDRAULIC FLUID ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR EYES OR IN YOUR MOUTH. HYDRAULIC FLUID IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY. FLUSH HYDRAULIC FLUID FROM YOUR EYES, MOUTH OR SKIN WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOU GET HYDRAULIC FLUID IN YOUR EYES OR MOUTH.
   (1) Remove the COVER - BLANKING from all the openings.
   (2) Clean the parts:
     (a) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with the cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean the replacement parts and their interfaces.
     (b) Use a clean, dry lint-free cloth to remove the dirty cleaning fluid from the parts while they are wet.
   (3) Examine the replacement parts and their interfaces. Make sure that they have no damage.
   (4) Install the seals and the unions onto the filter in the positions noted during removal (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-43-000-010).
F Engine Pump Case-Drain Filter ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Lubricate the new AIPC 29-13-43-81-090 SEALS (1) and AIPC 29-13-43-81-090 SEALS (4) and the threads of the unions (2) and (5) with clean hydraulic fluid.
   (5) Install the seal (1) to the union (2) and the seal (4) to the union (5) (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
   (6) Install the unions (2) and (5) on the case drain filter (10).
   (7) TORQUE the unions (2) and (5) to between 1.86 and 1.75 m.daN (13.72 and 12.91 lbf.ft ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
Subtask 29-13-43-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Install the case drain filter:
F Engine Pump Case-Drain Filter ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Put the case drain filter (10) on the bracket (11) in the position noted during removal (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-43-000-010).
   (2) Attach the case drain filter (10) to the bracket (11) with the two bolts (9).
   (3) Put the bracket (8) on the case drain filter (10) in the position noted during removal (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-43-000-010).
   (4) Attach the bracket (8) and the case drain filter (10) to the bracket (11) with the two bolts (7).
   (5) TORQUE the bolts (7) and (9) to between 110 and 90 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.02 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (6) Connect the connector nut (3) to the union (2).
   (7) Hold the union (2) with an applicable wrench and TORQUE the connector nut (3) to between 2.76 and 2.43 m.daN (20.35 and 17.92 lbf.ft ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (8) Connect the connector nut (6) to the union (5).
   (9) Hold the union (5) with an applicable wrench and TORQUE the connector nut (6) to between 2.76 and 2.43 m.daN (20.35 and 17.92 lbf.ft ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (10) Attach the clip (13) to the bracket (11) with the bolt (12).
   (11) TORQUE the bolt (12) to between 0.495 and 0.405 m.daN (43.81 and 35.84 lbf.in ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
Subtask 29-13-43-710-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Operational Test
   (1) Pressurize the hydraulic system of the engine 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-002).
   (2) Do an operational test of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002).
   (3) During the dry motoring of the engine 2, make sure that:
  • there are no leaks from the case drain filter,
  • the clogging indicator of the filter is not out.
   (4) Stop the dry motoring of the engine 2.
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-43-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010).
For 1000 EM2: 447AL, 448AR.
   (5) Close the door 195BB.
