Removal of the Engine-Pump Case-Drain Filter


WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-43-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occured not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the case drain upper and lower hose connections to the hydraulic pump case drain filter module (5) to collect the remaining fluid.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the left fan-cowl door 447AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (2) open the access door 195BB.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-43-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Case Drain Filter
BEFORE SB RA32029-5
   (1) Disconnect the hoses from the filter module (5).
   (2) Put COVER - BLANKING on the disconnected hose couplings and the filter module unions (10).
   (3) Remove the lockwire from the four bolts (15).
   (4) Remove the bolts (15) and the washers (20) that attach the filter module (5) to the filter support bracket.
   (5) Remove the two unions (10) and the two packings (7) from the filter module (5).
   (6) Put blanking covers on the unions (10) and the filter module ports.
Subtask 29-13-43-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of the Case Drain Filter
AFTER SB RA32029-5
   (1) Disconnect the hoses from the filter module (5).
   (2) Put COVER - BLANKING on the disconnected hose couplings, the filter module unions (10) and the elbow (35).
   (3) Remove the lockwire from the four bolts (15).
   (4) Remove the bolts (15) and the washers (20) that attach the filter module (5) to the filter support bracket.
   (5) Remove the union (10), the packing (7), the elbow (35), the nut (30) and the packing (25) from the filter module.
   (6) Put blanking covers on the union (10), the elbow (35) and the filter module ports.
