A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
  • on the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (4) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (5) Make sure that the access door 196BB is open.
   (6) Make sure that the CONTAINER - HYDRAULIC FLUID RESISTANT is in position below the location of the Yellow power accumulator.
   (7) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-42-560-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation of the Replacement Component
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Remove the parts which are attached to the removed accumulator (8) as follows:
     (a) Remove the union (3) and the O-ring (4).
     (b) Remove and discard the lockwire from the adapter (10).
     (c) Remove the adapter (10) together with the charging valve (12) and the pressure gage (11).
     (d) Remove the O-ring (9) from the accumulator (8).
     (e) Discard the O-rings (4) and (9).
   (2) Install the removed parts on the replacement accumulator as follows:
     (a) Remove the blanking caps from the accumulator (8).
     (b) Clean the union and the adapter and make sure that they are in good condition.
     (c) Lubricate the new AIPC 29-13-03-06-190 O-RINGS (4) or AIPC 29-13-83-08-310 O-RINGS (4) and the new AIPC 29-13-03-06-160 O-RINGS (9) or AIPC 29-13-83-08-290 O-RINGS (9) and all threads with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
     (d) Install the new O-ring (4) on the removed union (3).
     (e) Install the union (3) and TORQUE it to between 6.827 and 6.258 m.daN (50.35 and 46.15 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Install the new O-ring (9) on the removed adapter (10).
     (g) Install the adapter (10) together with the pressure gage (11) and the air charging valve (12).
     (h) TORQUE the adapter (10) to between 1.19 and 1.08 m.daN (105.31 and 95.58 lbf.in )
T.
     (i) Safety the adapter (10) with lockwire, corrosion resistant steel 0.8 mm (0.032in.).
Subtask 29-13-42-560-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation of the Replacement Component

AIPC 29-13-03-06-190 O-RINGS (4) or AIPC 29-13-83-08-310 O-RINGS (4) and the new AIPC 29-13-03-06-160 O-RINGS (9) or AIPC 29-13-83-08-290 O-RINGS (9) and all threads with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
     (d) Install the new O-ring (4) on the removed union (3).
     (e) Install the union (3) and TORQUE it to between 14.24 and 14.0 m.daN (105.01 and 103.24 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Install the new O-ring (9) on the removed adapter (10).
     (g) Install the adapter (10) together with the pressure gage (11) and the air charging valve (12).
     (h) TORQUE the adapter (10) to between 3.44 and 3.34 m.daN (25.37 and 24.63 lbf.ft )
T.
     (i) TORQUE the pressure gage (11) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
     (j) TORQUE the charging valve (12) to between 3.44 and 3.34 m.daN (25.37 and 24.63 lbf.ft )
T.
     (k) Safety the adapter (10) with lockwire, corrosion resistant steel 0.8 mm (0.032in.).

C. Test
   (1) Fill the accumulator with nitrogen (
Ref. AMM TASK 12-14-29-614-001).
   (2) Remove the warning notices from the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system and from the cockpit .
   (3) Pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (4) Make sure that the fluid level in the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is correct. Add fluid as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
   (5) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-002).
   (6) Examine the accumulator connections and sure that there are no hydraulic fluid or nitrogen leaks.
   (7) Make sure that the pressure gage shows 3000 +100 -100 psi.
   (8) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (9) Do the bleeding procedure of the Yellow hydraulic system downstream of the engine pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-870-007).
NOTE: When you do the bleeding procedure, nitrogen, which has gone into the hydraulic system from the defective accumulator, is removed.
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-42-860-051-A
A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Connect the PTU isolation coupling (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (2) Remove the container from below the accumulator.

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the access door 196BB.
