Installation of the Engine-Pump Pressure Switch

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-17-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
   (2) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
   (5) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine.
   (6) Make sure that the fan-cowl door is open.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the hydraulic tube connection.

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-17-110-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Remove the covers, caps, plugs from the adapter (1), the switch (3) and the electrical connector (4).
   (2) Clean the replacement parts and their interfaces:
     (a) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) , to clean the adapter (1), the switch (3) and the electrical connector (4).
     (b) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to remove the dirty cleaning fluid from the parts while they are wet.
   (3) Examine the replacement parts and their interfaces. Make sure that they have no damage.
Subtask 29-13-17-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Engine Pump Pressure Switch
   (1) Clean the replacement parts and their interfaces:
     (a) Use a clean lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean the adapter (1), pressure switch (3) and electrical connector (4).
   (2) Use a clean lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to remove the dirty cleaning fluid from the parts while they are wet.
   (3) Examine the replacement parts and their interfaces. Make sure that they have no damage.
   (4) Install the pressure switch (3):
     (a) Lubricate a new AIPC 29-13-17-80-020 PACKING (2) and the threads of the pressure switch (3) with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
     (b) Put the packing (2) on to the pressure switch (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-010).
     (c) Install the pressure switch (3) with the packing (2) into the adapter (1).
     (d) Put the P-clip (7) around the pressure switch (3) in the correct position for installation.
     (e) Attach the P-clip (7) to the clipnut (10) on the bracket (9) with the bolt (8).
     (f) Tighten the bolt (8) with your hand.
     (g) Hold the adapter (1) with the applicable WRENCH - STANDARD and TORQUE the pressure switch (3) to between 405 and 380 lbf.in (4.58 and 4.29 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (h) Safety the pressure switch (3) to the nearest anchor tab (5) with lockwire (Material No.V02-147) (6).
     (i) TORQUE the bolt (8) to between 44 and 36 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.41 m.daN ) T.
     (j) Connect the electrical connector (4) to the pressure switch (3) (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-15-912-010).
   (5) Remove the container and discard the drained hydraulic fluid.

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Operational Test
   (1) Do a check of the hydraulic fluid level in the reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-200-001).
   (2) Do an operational test of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002).
   (3) During the dry motoring of the engine 2, make sure that there is no leak from the pressure switch.
5. Close-up

A. Remove the ground support equipment.
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. Close Access
   (1) Close the fan cowl doors 447AL, 448AR (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010).
   (2) Close the door 195BB.
