4. Procedure
Subtask 29-12-43-420-052-C
A. Installation of the Case Drain Filter-Assembly
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
   (1) Remove the sealants with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from:
  • The mating surface of the case drain filter-assembly (2)
  • The bracket (1).
   (2) Examine the bracket (1) for cracks, corrosion or other damage.
   (3) Apply a layer of the Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) to the mating surface of the case drain filter-assembly (2).
   (4) Put the case drain filter (2) in position on the bracket (1).
   (5) Install the bolts (10) with the washers (9).
   (6) Remove the blanking plugs from the ports of the case drain filter-assembly (2).
   (7) If removed, install the removed components on the replacement case drain filter-assembly (2) as follows:
     (a) Remove the blanking plugs from the removed components.
     (b) Install the clogging indicator (16) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-12-43-960-001).
     (c) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new packings (6), (7) and (15).
     (d) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the threads of the unions (3) and (8).
     (e) Install the union (3) as follows:
1 Put the new AIPC 29-12-03-08-070 PACKING (6) in position on the union (3).
2 Install the union (3) in the case drain filter-assembly (2).
       3 TORQUE the union (3) to between 3.58 and 3.47 m.daN (26.40 and 25.59 lbf.ft )
T.
     (f) Install the union (8) as follows:
       1 Put the new
AIPC 29-12-03-08-070 PACKING (7) in position on the union (8).
2 Install the union (8) in the case drain filter-assembly (2).
       3 TORQUE the union (8) to between 3.58 and 3.47 m.daN (26.40 and 25.59 lbf.ft )
T.
     (g) Install the check valve (5) as follows:
       1 Put the new
AIPC 29-12-03-08-065 PACKING (15) in position on the check valve (5).
2 Install the check valve (5) in the case drain filter-assembly (2) (
