Installation of the Low Pressure Filter-Assembly

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Make sure that the warning notices are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • One WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel
  • One WARNING NOTICE(S) on the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (4) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (5) Make sure that one of the main doors of the main gear is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is in position at the location of the low pressure filter-assembly.
   (7) Make sure that the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) is in position below the location of the low pressure filter-assembly.
   (8) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-11-44-560-052-A
A. Preparation of the Replacement Component
   (1) Remove the components which are installed in the removed low pressure filter-assembly (13) as follows:
     (a) Remove the temperature transmitter (8) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-33-11-000-001).
     (b) Remove the union (2) and the packing (3).
     (c) Discard the packing (3).
     (d) Remove the union (10) and the packing (9).
     (e) Discard the packing (9).
     (f) Install a PLUG - BLANKING in the open ports of the low pressure filter-assembly (13) and all of the removed components.
   (2) Install the removed components on the replacement low pressure filter-assembly (13) as follows:
     (a) Remove the blanking plugs from the ports of the low pressure filter-assembly (13) and all of the removed components.
     (b) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new packings and the threads of the unions.
     (c) Install the pressure transmitter (8) in the low pressure filter-assembly (13) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-33-11-400-001).
     (d) Install the union (2) as follows:
       1 Put the new AIPC 29-11-03-07-100 PACKING (3) or AIPC 29-11-83-05-260 PACKING (3) in position on the union (2).
       2 Install the union (2) in the low pressure filter-assembly (13).
       3 TORQUE the union (2) to between 11.379 and 10.24 m.daN (83.92 and 75.52 lbf.ft )
T.
     (e) Install the union (10) as follows:
       1 Put the new
AIPC 29-11-03-07-100 PACKING (9) or AIPC 29-11-83-05-260 PACKING (9) in position on the union (10).
       2 Install the union (10) in the low pressure filter-assembly (13).
       3 TORQUE the union (10) to between 11.379 and 10.24 m.daN (83.92 and 75.52 lbf.ft )

B. Installation of the Low Pressure Filter-Assembly (1002GM)
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
   (1) Remove the sealants with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC from:
  • The mating surface of the low pressure filter-assembly (13)
  • The bracket (16).
   (2) Examine the bracket (16) for cracks, corrosion or other damage.
   (3) Apply a layer of the Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) to the mating surface of the low pressure filter-assembly (13).
   (4) Remove the blanking plugs from the pipe connections.
   (5) Put the low pressure filter-assembly (13) in position on the bracket (16).
   (6) Install the three bolts (14) with the washers (15).
   (7) Tighten the bolts (14).
   (8) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (9) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the threads of the pipe end-fittings.
   (10) Connect the coupling nut (1) to the union (2).
   (11) TORQUE the coupling nut (1) to between 13.7 and 13.4 m.daN (101.03 and 98.82 lbf.ft ) T.
   (12) Connect the pipe (12) to the union (10).
   (13) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (11) to between 13.7 and 13.4 m.daN (101.03 and 98.82 lbf.ft )
T.
   (14) Connect the bonding strap (6) to the pressure transmitter (8), as follows:
     (a) Put the bonding strap (6) in position at the pressure transmitter (8).
     (b) Install the nut (4) with the washer (5).
     (c) Tighten the nut (4).
     (d) Seal the connection of the bonding strap (6) with the Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.
06AAA1) .
     (e) Apply the Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) (dyed blue) to the sealants.
   (15) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors.
   (16) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (17) Connect the electrical connector (7):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
     (a) Connect the electrical connector (7) to the temperature transmitter (8).

D. Test
   (1) Pressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (2) Make sure that the fluid level in the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is correct. Add fluid as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
   (3) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001).
   (4) Examine the connections of the low pressure filter-assembly (13) and make sure that there are no leaks.
   (5) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (6) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (7) On the ECAM control panel on the center pedestal push the HYD pushbutton. Make sure that the HYD page on the system (lower) display comes on.
   (8) Make sure that the ECAM system shows no overtemperature.
   (9) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-11-44-860-057-A
A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Make sure that the fluid level in the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is correct. Add fluid as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
   (2) Connect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Close the main door of the main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (5) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (6) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (7) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
