Installation of the Engine-Pump Case-Drain Filter
WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(2) Make sure that the Green hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
(5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine
(6) Make sure that the fan-cowl door is open.
Subtask 29-11-43-941-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(2) Make sure that the Green hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
- on the ground service panel 197CB.
(5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine
(6) Make sure that the fan-cowl door is open.
B. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
(6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the case drain filter.
4. Procedure(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
- make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
- in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
- make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the case drain filter.
Subtask 29-11-43-420-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Case Drain Filter
(1) Remove the protective covers from the ports on the filter assembly (30), the hose/tube (15), the union (20), the elbow (40) and the hose (45).
(2) Install the filter assembly (30) on the support bracket with the bolts (5) and the washers (10).
(3) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 0.79 and 0.56 m.daN (69.91 and 49.56 lbf.in )

(4) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new packings (25).
(5) Put the new AIPC 29-11-43-01-020 PACKING (25) on the union (20) and install the union (20) in the port at the top of the filter assembly (30).

(7) Connect the upper case drain hose/tube (15) to the union (20) on the filter assembly (30).
(8) TORQUE the coupling nut on the upper case drain hose (15) to between 2.76 and 2.42 m.daN (20.35 and 17.85 lbf.ft )
.
(10) Install the elbow (40) on the filter assembly (30), as follows:
(a) Turn the elbow until the packing (25) is against the filter assembly (30).
(c) TORQUE the bulkhead nut (35) to between 2.26 and 2.03 m.daN (16.67 and 14.97 lbf.ft )
.
(12) TORQUE the coupling nut on the lower case drain hose (45) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
Subtask 29-11-43-710-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the protective covers from the ports on the filter assembly (30), the hose/tube (15), the union (20), the elbow (40) and the hose (45).
(2) Install the filter assembly (30) on the support bracket with the bolts (5) and the washers (10).
(3) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 0.79 and 0.56 m.daN (69.91 and 49.56 lbf.in )
. (4) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new packings (25).
(5) Put the new AIPC 29-11-43-01-020 PACKING (25) on the union (20) and install the union (20) in the port at the top of the filter assembly (30).
NOTE: The packing (25) is supplied with the union (20).
(6) TORQUE the union (20) to between 3.39 and 2.82 m.daN (25.00 and 20.80 lbf.ft )
. (7) Connect the upper case drain hose/tube (15) to the union (20) on the filter assembly (30).
(8) TORQUE the coupling nut on the upper case drain hose (15) to between 2.76 and 2.42 m.daN (20.35 and 17.85 lbf.ft )
. NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the union (20) when you TORQUE the coupling nut.
(9) Put the bulkhead nut (35) and the new AIPC 29-11-43-01-040 PACKING (25) on the elbow (40). (10) Install the elbow (40) on the filter assembly (30), as follows:
(a) Turn the elbow until the packing (25) is against the filter assembly (30).
NOTE: The elbow must point forward and be in the horizontal position.
(b) Turn the bulkhead nut (35) until it is against the filter assembly (30). (c) TORQUE the bulkhead nut (35) to between 2.26 and 2.03 m.daN (16.67 and 14.97 lbf.ft )
. NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the elbow (40) when you TORQUE the bulkhead nut (35) .
(11) Attach the lower case drain hose (45) to the elbow (40). (12) TORQUE the coupling nut on the lower case drain hose (45) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. NOTE: Use a second WRENCH - TORQUE to hold the elbow (40) when you torque the coupling nut on the hose.
B. Operational Test
(1) Do an operational test of the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-00-710-001).
(2) During the dry motoring make sure that there is no leak from the case drain filter.
5. Close-up(1) Do an operational test of the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-00-710-001).
(2) During the dry motoring make sure that there is no leak from the case drain filter.
Subtask 29-11-43-942-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the safety precautions
(1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(2) Remove the container.
(3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. Close Access
(1) Close the left fan-cowl door 437AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040).
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(1) Close the left fan-cowl door 437AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040).
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
