Removal of the Engine-1 Pump-Case-Drain Check-Valve
WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE CHECK VALVE AS THE HYDRAULIC FLUID WILL FLOW OUT.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001)
(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)

B. Safety Precautions
(1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
(5) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
Subtask 29-11-37-010-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
- Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate this pushbutton switch.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
- On the ground service panel
- On the HYD section of panel 40VU.
(5) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
C. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the pylon.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the pylon.

A. Removal of the Engine-1 Pump-Case-Drain Check-Valve
(2) Disconnect the tube (7) from the check valve (6).
(3) Remove the screws (4) and washers (3) from the anti-rotate key (2).
(4) Remove the anti-rotate key (2).
(5) Remove the check valve (6) from the tube (1).
(6) Remove and discard the packing (5).
(7) Put PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected tube (7) and tube (1).
CAUTION:
USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
(1) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the hydraulic tube connection to collect the remaining fluid. - ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
- ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
(2) Disconnect the tube (7) from the check valve (6).
(3) Remove the screws (4) and washers (3) from the anti-rotate key (2).
(4) Remove the anti-rotate key (2).
(5) Remove the check valve (6) from the tube (1).
(6) Remove and discard the packing (5).
(7) Put PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected tube (7) and tube (1).
