Installation of the Accumulator-Gas Charging Valve

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • In the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel
  • On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (4) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (5) Make sure that the left main door of the main gear is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at the left door of the main gear.
   (7) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-11-22-420-050-B
A. Installation of the Gas Charging-Valve (1071GM)
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the adapter (2).
   (4) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the gas charging-valve (4).
   (5) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the threads of the gas charging-valve connection.
   (6) Make sure that the O-ring seal (3) is installed on the gas charging-valve (4).
   (7) If the removed charging-valve (4) is to be installed, remove the used O-ring seal (3) and install the new AIPC 29-14-14-01-010 0-RING (3).
   (8) Install the gas charging-valve (4) on the adapter (2).
   (9) TORQUE the gas charging-valve (4) to between 3.44 and 3.34 m.daN (25.37 and 24.63 lbf.ft )

   (10) Safety the gas charging-valve with the lockwire 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.

B. Preparation for Test
   (1) Fill the accumulator with nitrogen (
Ref. AMM TASK 12-14-29-614-001).
   (2) Close the gas charging-valve nut (5).
   (3) TORQUE the gas charging-valve nut (5) to between 60.00 and 50.00 lbf.in (0.68 and 0.57 m.daN ) T.
   (4) Install the endcap (6) on the gas charging-valve (4).
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (6) Pressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (7) Make sure that the fluid level in the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is correct. Add fluid as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-002).
   (8) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001).

C. Test
   (1) Apply the leak detector Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) to the connections of the gas charging-valve (4), the adapter (2) and the endcap (6). Make sure that there are no leaks.
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-11-22-860-053-A
A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Connect the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Close the left main door of the main gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
