Reactivation of the Case Drain Filter of the Engine Driven Pump of the Yellow Hydraulic System

Subtask 29-10-00-860-089-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
  • on the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that the slats are in the fully retracted position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
   (4) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (5) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the left fan cowl door of the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (2) Put the STEPLADDER 0.5 M (1.6 FT) in position below case drain filter 3084GM.

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the left fan cowl door of the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010).
   (2) Put the STEPLADDER 0.5 M (1.6 FT) in position below case drain filter 3084GM.

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the left fan cowl door of the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802).
   (2) Put the STEPLADDER 0.5 M (1.6 FT) in position below case drain filter 3084GM.

C. Put a CONTAINER 2 L (0.53 USGAL) in position under the filter to collect the hydraulic fluid.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-10-00-440-051-A
A. Reactivation of the Case Drain Filter (3084GM)
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Remove and discard the lockwire between the filter bowl (3) and the filter head (1).
   (2) Remove the filter bowl (3).
   (3) Make sure that the O-ring (4) is correctly installed on the new AIPC 29-13-43-02-020 FILTER ELEMENT (2).
NOTE: The O-ring (4) is part of the filter element (2).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (4) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the O-ring (4) and to the threads of the filter bowl (3).
   (5) Do a check of the filter element (2) and make sure that it is clean and not damaged.
   (6) Install the filter bowl (3) together with the filter element (2) in the filter head (1).
   (7) Tighten the filter bowl (3) with your hands.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (8) Safety the filter bowl (3) to the filter head (1) with lockwire, corrosion-resistant steel, dia. 0.8 mm (0.032 in.).
   (9) If the red clogging indicator is out, push it in to set it again.

B. Preparation for the Test
   (1) Make sure that the content of the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is correct. Add fluid as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-002).
   (2) Pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the container.

C. Test
   (1) Dry-motor the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-809).
   (2) Make sure that there are no hydraulic leaks from the filter assembly, and that the clogging indicator stays in.
   (3) If there are hydraulic leaks, replace the case drain filter (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-43-610-802).
   (4) If the clogging indicator comes out, push it in to set it again. If it will not stay in, do the trouble-shooting of the filter assembly to find the cause.
   (5) Stop the operation of the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-809).
Subtask 29-10-00-710-054-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Test
   (1) Dry-motor the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-001).
   (2) Make sure that there are no hydraulic leaks from the filter assembly, and that the clogging indicator stays in.
   (3) If there are hydraulic leaks, replace the case drain filter (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-43-610-040) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-43-610-041).
   (4) If the clogging indicator comes out, push it in to set it again. If it will not stay in, do the trouble-shooting of the filter assembly to find the cause.
   (5) Stop the operation of the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-001).
Subtask 29-10-00-710-054-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Test
   (1) Dry-motor the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-045).
   (2) Make sure that there are no hydraulic leaks from the filter assembly, and that the clogging indicator stays in.
   (3) If there are hydraulic leaks, replace the case drain filter (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-43-610-010).
   (4) If the clogging indicator comes out, push it in to set it again. If it will not stay in, do the trouble-shooting of the filter assembly to find the cause.
   (5) Stop the operation of the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-045).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the stepladder.
   (3) Close the left fan cowl door of the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802).
   (4) Make an entry in the logbook.
Subtask 29-10-00-410-060-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the stepladder.
   (3) Close the left fan cowl door of the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040).
   (4) Make an entry in the logbook.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the stepladder.
   (3) Close the left fan cowl door of the right (No. 2) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010).
